Expedition insurance purchased this insurance with guidance…

purchased this insurance with guidance from the Auras online help line, which suggested adding extra cover for my expedition to Mt Ama Dablam in Nepal.

During the trip, I suffered food poisoning and required an emergency air evacuation to a hospital in Lukla, and was later transferred to Kathmandu for further treatment. Unfortunately, I was not able to continue my expedition due to my medical condition.

I submitted a claim with Auras and provided all required supporting documents, including a doctor’s report and helicopter evacuation records. However, the claim was declined.

From my experience, the claims process felt very difficult and restrictive, and despite the documentation provided, the claim was not approved.

I spent thousands of dollars on this expedition and am very disappointed with how the situation was handled.

I don’t recommend this insurance company for any of your travel , expedition insurance .

Achtung Abzocke!!

Leider reine Abzocke mit Sitz in Dubai.. Habe keinen Cent meiner Krankenhausrechnung von Thailand zurück bekommen. Habe die Versicherung sofort verständigt als ich im Krankenhaus war. Die Versicherung gibt auch keine Garantie für das Krankenhaus wie es andere Versicherungen machen, man muss alles selbst im Vorhinein zahlen. Hände weg, da gibt's viel bessere.

Life-saving medical claim denied Policy No: 217000

I am writing this to warn others to avoid dealing with this company (AURAS / AIO PL Sp. z o.o.) has denied a critical, life-saving emergency medical claim, citing technicalities that contradict EU Regulation (EC) No 810/2009.

They attempted to use a "48-hour notification" rule which they had previously waived in writing. This is a clear case of bad faith and inconsistent procedural conduct.

Stay away!! Astoundingly bad company. They focus 100% of their efforts in finding a loophole to avoid paying a claim.

We want to be completely transparent with you and everyone this review:
Your claim was successfully paid in full (minus the standard 100 USD deductible) on 10 March 2026. The payment was processed as soon as we received the complete set of required documents. Therefore, we sincerely believe that your assessment is incorrect.

Here is what actually happened (step by step):
You first reported the incident on 31 October 2025.
Over the following months we worked together with you and Anne to gather all the necessary paperwork, including a detailed medical report from the hospital.

Because the diagnosis involved a chronic condition, our Policy Wording (openly published on auras.insure) requires a full medical history to confirm it was an acute insured event and not an excluded pre-existing condition.

Once Anne provided the complete medical report on 25 January 2026 and the final bank details on 2 March 2026, we immediately approved the claim on 5 March and the money was transferred on 10 March 2026 — within just 5 business days. And really compared to other companies that can delay payment for months. 5 days is very fast.

This was not an attempt to find a loophole. Every request for additional documents was made to comply with the exact terms of the insurance contract you accepted before purchase and to ensure a lawful and correct reimbursement.

We genuinely regret that the collection of documents took time and caused stress. Our 24/7 support team is here precisely to help speed things up, and we are always improving our communication so clients know exactly what is needed from the very beginning.

Thank you again for your honest feedback. It helps us become better and faster for every traveller. We are glad we could ultimately deliver the reimbursement as promised in the contract, and we remain committed to fair and transparent service.

Reported in time, still denied — Auras ignores evidence

My son plays ice hockey in Canada and was insured with Auras. After a minor injury, only a diagnosis was needed — no treatment. The hospital charged 990 CAD for, among other things, X-rays.

The incident was reported to Auras within 24 hours by email. Despite clear proof of this, Auras denied the claim, stating it was reported too late.

After I provided the email evidence of both my report and my also within 24 hours of the hospital bill, they stopped responding completely.

We are genuinely sorry that the claim was denied and that this has left you feeling that we ignore evidence. We completely understand how frustrating this must be, especially after a minor injury and after you believed everything was reported on time.

We want to clarify exactly what happened with full transparency:

On 30 October 2025, you promptly notified us about the insured event within 24 hours. We registered the case the same day and immediately sent you the claim form together with the full list of required documents.

The next communication we received from you was on 5 December 2025 (more than a month later), when you submitted some documents. We replied the same day that the set was incomplete and re-sent the full required list.

After that, we only heard back from you on 19 January 2026.
On 20 January 2026, the claim was formally declined due to the significant delay in submitting the complete set of documents required by the Policy Wording.

Our Policy Wording (openly available on auras.insure with no hidden clauses) requires that all necessary claim documents be submitted in a timely manner after the initial notification.

While we are generally flexible with minor delays when clients keep us updated, in this case there was a long period of silence without any explanation. This made it impossible to approve the claim under the exact terms of the contract.

This was not about ignoring your evidence. We fully acknowledged your timely initial report of the incident. The denial was based solely on the extended delay in providing the complete documentation needed to assess the claim.

LA atención por parte de la señorita que me contactó, de 10 la verdad, pero la verdad es que después de llegar a la conclusión de que sí iba a hacer el seguro, me pidieron toda la información personal, y yo se la di, y al final me preguntó si tenía alguna enfermedad crónica, y le comenté que tenía azúcar "diabetes" y a partir de ese momento TODO CAMBIO, y ya no podía pagar mensualmente, tenía que pagar de tres en tres meses, y la verdad no le vi el porqué, y desistí y no hice el seguro, PERO YO AHORA ME PREGUNTO, ¿QUÉ OCURRE CON TODOS LOS DATOS PARTICULARES QUE LE DI? y ¿PORQUE NO TE EXPLICAN PRIMERO QUE PASA SI TIENES ALGUNA ENFERMEDAD CRÓNICA? y así no tienes que dar todos tus datos, SINCERAMENTE NO ME GUSTÓ NADA .
