For several years I rented a car by Athens Cars in Crete. They were always present at the airport Heraklion and transported our luggage to the parkingplace. There were never problems. I advice everybody to rent a car there.

The online booking is very efficient and the pick up and drop off at the airport really quick and easy. You can pay cash - no credit card needed.
Babis and his staff are very friendly and helpful. On the rare occasions we have had a small problem with the car they have attended to it straight away or changed the car immediately.
We would readily recommend this company to anyone wanting a first class car hire service .

I have been using Athenscars Crete Car Hire for years. They allways have cars that is in good conditions, and I have never had a car from them that has stoped for me. I use them 2-3 times a year and have been doing that for around 10 years now. That would have been around 20-30 times I have rented from the company, and still does. Next time will be for 3 weeks in september.

My adult son and I used this company for our 10 day visit to Crete in May 2019. Although our plane was over an hour late, on an already very late flight from Dublin, Babis and her colleague were waiting patiently for us in the airport. They quickly brought us to pick up the car and were very efficient, helpful and courteous. The car was exactly as described, performed perfectly well (there was one slight fault in that the key pad didn't work, but that was not at all important as we could use the key in the door) and we were very happy with it. I have been renting cars for years, from all sorts of car hire companies, mostly multinational, and it was a joy to be able to use a local company. I will not hesitate to use Athens Cars again when I return to Crete.

We hired a car from AthensCars a few weeks ago and found the whole experience to be 100% VFM. The staff were very helpful and the car was almost new and in great condition. Also no need to provide a credit card and just pay in cash and the price includes all inclusive CWD insurance.
Very competitively priced in comparison to the major rental companies. I would certainly recommend them as a well run local company, and would use them again when we return to Heraklion.

We stayed for a week and used this company for our rental car. Within 24 hours the drivers seat belt malfunctioned making it impossible ti drive safely with the seat belt fastened.

I phoned the owner who basically told me it was my fault and that I wasnt using the seat belt correctly (40 year old man with 20+ years of driving experience). After an unfriendly and unhelpful discusssion he offered to replace the car. The second car then had a fault with the passenger door making it impossible to close it securely. Again company changed the car but I was made to feel like it was my fault.

finally to add insult they phoned to check that I was returning the car with a full tank of petrol.

I just returned from Greece. We spent 10 days in Greece and 4 days in Crete. We had a wonderful trip apart from the terrible experience we had with Athens Car Crete.

I hired a Volkswagen Caddy as we were a big group. The moment I put it on 1st gear a pungent smell along with smoke started coming out of the bonnet. I thought it might be a problem with the car and called the owner immediately.

To tell you about the owner, he is the most rude and inhumane person I have met in my life. He came and started shouting on us ignoring that we had kids. The moment he entered he started saying we have ruined his car though we have hardly gone 100 metres in his car. He started treating us as if we are his slaves. He yelled at my wife and 3 year old son asking them to come out of the car immediately. He almost dashed my friend's wife while taking away the car.

My point is your car or whatever you are selling might have problem but the way he treated his customers is totally unacceptable.

I will request all those who read this post never hire a car from Athens Car Crete, they will leave no stone unturned to turn your holiday into a nightmare.

Later on we hired a car from Speed Car Agency and everything went smoothly from there.

My experience with Athens Cars Crete shows the benefits of booking with a local company. They were waiting at the airport to pick me up, even though their location is only a few blocks from the airport. There was no wait, and the pickup process was fast and smooth with the car exactly as promised. I returned the car before the location opened and it was an easy walk back to the airport. While we had a minor disagreement about some small damage found on the car, Babis was very open to discussion and polite and reasonable throughout the process. I cannot imagine having a better interaction with any other company.

On recent trip to Heraklion, Crete used this company for a car rental. Got rear-ended at an intersection, company rep and also the owner showed with in no time. Very helpful with other driver and police. I would have recommended them for price and service before this incident; they had beaten everyone else's price. This was a great capper to their service.
