We were tied into a service contract and operating lease with various iterations of this firm for nearly a decade after being sold what was pitched as a fantastic deal when we were a new business. We soon realised we had been massively oversold. The machine provided was designed to handle around 100,000 pages per month. As a small business of eight, our print volume in an entire year is barely a fraction of that, yet we were locked into paying for a minimum print quota far beyond our actual usage.
We attempted to exit the arrangement after the 5-year contract had expired, but due to a 6-month overlap between the hire and service contracts, departure fees of around £2,000 made this unfeasible at the time. Begrudgingly, we renewed the agreement for the minimum term of 5 years. Over those five years, we paid roughly £6,000 for a printer worth £2,500, which we still did not own. Admittedly, this included toner, but not to the value of £3,500.
Once the contract finally came to an end, we informed the company that we did not wish to renew and their approach can only be described as rude and actively unhelpful. We made it explicitly clear on several occasions that we wished to avoid a repeat of the previous contract overlap and intended to return the printer, repeatedly asking for guidance on the correct process. The account manager’s responses were terse and vague at best. Despite it being obvious that we wanted both agreements to end simultaneously, instead, on the operating lease expiry date, we were informed that a termination fee was due because of a 90-day notice period on the service contract. The whole experience felt entirely unprofessional, obstructive, and predatory, and we would strongly advise other businesses to avoid making the same mistake.
Prior to writing this review I requested details of the company's complaints procedure from several team members of ASL Group and was duly ignored.

The lady who spoke to me on the phone was very helpful. Unfortunately we are still one copier out of two down as we wait for an engineer. In a school with 11 classes this isn't ideal.

Most of my dealings with ASL long quick resolutions. Occasionally there might be a supply issue regarding toners etc but ASL always respond helpfully and try to resolve issues as quickly as possible. Getting engineer support is very quick and easy.
