If you're considering using this moving company, I urge you to stay away. They initially attract customers with low quotes, but on moving day, the cost often escalates dramatically, sometimes by hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Getting your deposit back is nearly impossible, even if you cancel promptly and within the specified time frame. Expect rude and aggressive behavior from staff. Communication is poor, and the moving crews are unprofessional, often working sluggishly and handling items with little care.

The company employs aggressive sales tactics, and there's a notable lack of transparency; representatives may misrepresent their roles, adding to confusion and frustration.

Personally, Richard and his team were particularly unscrupulous, taking advantage of us once they secured our payment. Communication dwindled significantly afterward, leaving us feeling exploited and disregarded. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this company to prevent unnecessary stress and financial loss.

I have used American Movers for three moves. Each person I dealt with including those in charge and the movers themselves were professional and very kind. I dealt with Alex before my last move and Damian who was very understanding and helpful when a prized piece of furniture was damaged. I was given remuneration for a replacement which was of huge importance to me. I wrote down the names of the actual movers but have lost the list. To a person, they were careful and courteous.

Very disappointed in this company. Only moved 5 miles away but into a new residence. When they got finished moving my furnishings in the new place they told me their truck was empty. I did not check that statement. However I'm missing several items that points to a box or two that was not unloaded. I called and spoke to Cameno. He denied what I was complaining about and just hung up. I don't believe they are an ethical company and would not recommend them.

This is a scam. They tell you all is taken care of and the total cost, then the moving co. calls and demands 6K more. It is down to the last minute and we are being held hostage. We either pay the additional or we lose the $4700 we already paid.

I called this and discussed my move and they said no problem. They told me how much they needed to hold my day and that I had to pay with a check or money order, THAT THEY COULD NOT ACCEPT A CREDIT CARD. I should have known better, but I was moving and wanted to get things set up. I paid they with two separate checks and on the date I was suppose to move, I didn't hear from they. I called them and they said "we are looking for a truck to move you." WHAT????? I waited for 5 more days and I was the only one communicating, they never called me once within those five days. I was packed and sleeping on the floor in my condo and I had to pay the landlord for each night I stayed there after my move out date. Finally, I called them and told them I was going to find someone else to move me and I wanted my money back and they said that I canceled my contract and that I can not get my money back. I was working with Richard and Benjamin, they both and the company ''ARE CROOKS, THIEVES." Please don't use this company. I am a senior over 70 and they took advantage of me and I was sick with cancer. They knew this and they STOLE from me.
DON 'T USE THEM. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO BUSINESS.

Beware! Do not use this company! They will quote a market rate and assure you that if your inventory is the same as what was listed initially, the rate won't change. I paid the deposit of $1020 via Apple Pay which I chose as my method of payment because they informed me that if I used a debit/credit card, I would be charged a 8% processing fee. Honestly, this was the first red flag I should of paid attention to. When I expressed my apprehension about not using my debit card because I wouldn't be protected in the event something went wrong, the rep quickly insisted that I would still be protected through Apple Pay since I was paying a business and even insisted I would be more protected. I agreed and made the payment.

What happened next was a follow up right before the scheduled pickup, someone other than my original point of contact reached out to go over the inventory list again. After going over the list, they stated that I will need more cubic feet to fit all items listed and the rate would increase from the initial quote of $2200 to $4000! They thought I would agree since I had already given a deposit of over $1000. But I refused and accused them of trying to scam and shake me down, they had the audacity to try to negotiate as if they were doing me a favor. I refused and immediately contacted my bank and notified them of the deceptive practices and filed a dispute. I am currently waiting to see if my bank will reimburse me. Even if they don't, just out of sheer principal I wasn't going to give American Movers Direct, another dime of my money! Please heed this warning and do not do business with this company! I am not the type of person who usually write reviews but in this case I felt compelled to put this company on blast and make as many people aware as possible. They need to be put out of business!

I got ripped out by this company last year. This morning I got contacted by someone who just got ripped off for $6000.

I have been scouring the internet trying to find out more about this company and how to get my money back but I have been unable to find any success. I stumbled upon your website and saw that you had used them in the past. Is there anything you suggest I do to try to get my money back?

Moving one's life to another place is never easy but these movers made it as easy as it could be. With their quick and efficient responses, we managed to get our most prized possession safely to its new home. Thank you to the company and the team here.

Please do not use this company, they hold you and your bank account hostage while never delivering on promises and charging you more each time you call.

Scammers!

They sell you on this reasonably priced move - but they're brokers. They don't dictate price or timeframes. They get paid no matter what awful movers they broker your move out to...and they don't communicate past the "sale". When we contacted them about pick up or delivery, we were called "ridiculous" for expecting what they sold us. DO NOT USE THESE YAHOOS!

For reference: we were told there'd be a pick up early morn 6/21, the movers came at 5:30p 6/22 (and only loaded until 8pm, had to come back 6/23 to finish up, charged us 110% more than was quoted - Good Move LLC may be worse than these guys!!). They said delivery would be 6/28...we received *most* of our belongings on 9/22 - almost all of it damaged, some missing. All of the garden planters had empty Modelas in them. We don't drink beer, I promise you they were not loaded this way...

Don't use this broker. They don't communicate, they sell you an unreasonable "move", and they're jerks!!! IF you can get anyone on the phone (after you've paid them!) they're going to be the most dismissive and apathetic jerks you've ever imagined.

Accomodated our needs and were amazing from start to finish. They were prompt and worked hard to complete the job as quickly as they could.
