Ailsa Black trained at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen where she studied Graphic Design and Illustration. Today she works from a seaside studio in the tiny Scottish village of Carsethorn in Dumfries and Galloway. From her studio she observes and captures the daily comings and goings of village life. Today her art appears in galleries and on an extensive and growing range of gift ware available both in the UK and abroad. Ailsa has exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute and Paisley Art Institute. In 2017 she was listed as one of 25 top UK influential art brands to watch by a panel of over 200 retailers and business people by Licensing Biz. In 2018 her RSPB Year Planner was voted Best Charity Calendar in the UK Calendar Awards.

Ailsa Black cards are beautiful and really good quality. The designs are really special in my opinion - I haven't seen one that I don't like. I recently ordered 10 in different designs. One turned out to be unavailable at the time of posting and I received a handwritten note of apology from Ailsa and two other cards in its place. What wonderful service ! 🥰

Hoppity Poppity
I recently bought a framed Hoppity Poppity print to go with my Wonderful Wildcat.
Once again I was so pleased with the beautiful print which arrived promptly and also a selection of Ailsa’s cards.

I love Ailsa’s work
I love Ailsa’s work. I had received a gift and wanted to pair it with another painting of hers. Website was very easy to use, delivery was quick, item was packaged securely, and I was kept informed throughout the process. Price was also reasonable too. All in all, I’m very pleased.
