I went abroad with AIFS in the fall semester at Université Grenoble Alpes, and I was very attracted by the immersion and language-learning aspect that AIFS and the UGA program provided. I was placed in a wonderful homestay (with pets!), and I knew I could count on either my host or the AIFS resident director if I needed anything at all, from homework help to personal matters like homesickness. AIFS supported me--and my parents--during the entire registration and departure process. There were a lot of nerves going into the semester, but I was put at ease by how welcoming and helpful my host and resident director were, as well as the new friends I made at UGA. The AIFS resident director helped familiarize me with the city, and I got to experience so many aspects of French culture from cuisine to history to art while exploring Grenoble during the semester. My classes taught me a lot about French culture as well, including social and linguistic customs that you I never learned from a textbook. My French skills increased exponentially from the beginning of the semester to the end thanks to the immersive courses in UGA's CUEF program. Being abroad not only showed me how adaptable and confident I could become in my independence, but I also got to make friends from opposite ends of the world that I still stay in touch with today. I would recommend AIFS Abroad to any student looking to be challenged academically, is adventurous, and wants to go out of their comfort zone to explore the world and the culture and friendships it has to offer.

I chose to go abroad with AIFS Abroad because they had a unique program that I wanted to do: Cannes Extended Spring Semester Study Abroad & Internship. While I was abroad in the Spring of 2024, I had great support from staff, in particular my program director, Aude Romens, who made herself available to help myself and other students with whatever we needed help with. She worked hands-on with us to lead program excursions to local cities such as Nice, Monaco, and Grasse, as well as taking us on longer trips to Paris and Florence, Italy. She is the absolute BEST and is considered by me and others to be our French mom. My housing experience was pretty great. I had my own room and had the best view ever, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. I had the opportunity to go on excursions with my program director and do other cool experiences in my classes, such as creating a short film for my film class and putting on a play, all in French! I made some of the greatest friends abroad, who I still talk to today. My program consisted of about 25 people, so the group became a very tight-knit group of people, which was great as we did all the activities and excursions together. This experience allowed me to grow my French language skills and also allowed me to participate in an internship during the Cannes Film Festival. I’d recommend AIFS Abroad to students who really want to make the most out of their experience abroad. They provide you with all the resources you need to not only survive but thrive abroad.

Truly I could not tell you what I would have changed about my experience with AIFS. The travel package was so nice, I can book a plane ticket easy peasy, but I was concerned about landing and trying to figure out the tube. They made it so I didn't have to worry about a thing. The accommodations were so nice, and well located. The first day they showed us the route to get from our accommodations to our classroom which I really appreciated. The staff were all so kind, helpful, and accommodating. The experiences they booked for us were so fun and a good balance of catered experiences and free time for you (and friends) to explore London on your own. The professor was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. I truly would not change a thing about my experience and I cannot recommend it enough!

Honestly I couldn’t be any happier with my experience in abroad. The AIFS Rome faculty and staff was amazing. They were extremely welcoming and helpful. Everything you need to know is provided and the education was a wonderful experience. Professor Merlotto was such a joy to learn from. The tours were wonderful. I genuinely couldn’t be happier with my experience. If you’re considering Rome abroad with AIFS, please do it! You will not regret it.

I decided to go abroad with AIFS because of the unique opportunities they provided, like internships abroad. I was so excited to be able to get real work experience while being able to see the world! I decided to do the spring internship program in Barcelona, Spain, and it completely changed my life! I had such an amazing experience with the supportive staff, from the moment I applied to the second I landed in Barcelona. Special thanks to Inma, Pili, Angela, Natalia, and everyone at the Barcelona office, you guys are amazing :) The cultural activities and trips were so much fun, and were a great way to learn about and immerse yourself in the culture. They were also included in the program fees! I was able to make special connections with locals and other interns and students, people who will become lifelong friends. Professionally, interning abroad gave me a global perspective in business that I can take with me wherever I go. Personally, it gave me the confidence to become more independent and believe in myself. If I can move to a new country by myself I can do anything! I highly recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone looking to gain professional experience while exploring the world. Genuinely the best decision I’ve ever made :)

I chose one of AIFS's summer programs and studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria this past summer 2025. In comparison to many other program providers, AIFS has a ton of amazing choices for shorter length programs like summer and January term.

From before departure through my time in Salzburg our program coordinators and instructors were amazing! They were so helpful, easy to work with, and excited to help us build connections and experience Salzburg. My program offered dorm-style housing which was a great way to meet people in program as well as other international students. The Salzburg program had a ton of awesome excursions scheduled for us which ranged from going to see a show at the Marionette theater to taking a weekend trip to Vienna!

Over my time abroad with AIFS I developed so many skills by getting out of my comfort zone. I improved my language skills by getting involved in a German speaking community, gained more confidence traveling on my own, and developed my communication skills by building relationships with some great friends I made and the support staff at my program. I would recommend AIFS (especially their summer programs) to any students who are looking for a program that is perfectly structured to allow for some safety and comfortability but also enough freedom and time to explore and get out of your comfort zone! I would also recommend them for their amazing support staff!

AIFS could not have been better, enough said. From accommodations to classes, they’ve been top tier when it came to giving students the best experience abroad. They went above and beyond, planning trips for us on weekends and planning events for us, including but not limited to cooking classes, apertivo, and excursions. When recommending institutions to people going abroad, AIFS will always be my first pick.

I chose AIFS Abroad because I wanted a program that offered a wide range of activities and ways to experience the city — and Berlin did not disappoint. From the very beginning, the process of going abroad was smooth and straightforward. The application portal was easy to navigate, and the staff were always quick to respond. My enrollment manager, who had firsthand experience living in Berlin and knew the apartments I would stay in, provided advice that felt genuinely personal and tailored to my situation. They were easy to reach by phone or email and always made sure I felt supported throughout the process.

Once I arrived, the program manager immediately made me feel welcome. They were friendly, approachable, and full of energy, creating a really fun and inclusive atmosphere. We participated in local activities and group meetings that gave us insight into Berlin’s culture and social life, from exploring neighborhoods to trying new experiences together. Even after the program ended, my program manager reached out with a thoughtful message encouraging me to apply for a post-AIFS internship, which was an unexpected but incredibly meaningful gesture.

Housing was another highlight of the program. I stayed in an AIFS-owned apartment in the heart of Charlottenburg, on the 7th floor with a balcony that offered a beautiful view of the city. The neighborhood was lively and convenient, with shops, restaurants, and local businesses right at my doorstep. AIFS also organized group trips around Berlin and its surroundings, offering a deeper understanding of the city’s history and culture. On top of that, we were provided with public transportation tickets for the entire semester, which made getting around the city effortless.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my experience was the friendships I made. We met during the first few days through AIFS activities and quickly became a tight-knit group, traveling and exploring together throughout the semester. Even now, we stay in touch, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit some of them at their home universities. What I loved most was how each of us had unique takeaways from Berlin — we were able to blend our interests and passions into a one-of-a-kind experience that I could never have had anywhere else.

Being abroad also gave me a chance to grow personally. I got involved in local pickup soccer games, explored Berlin’s art and museums, improved my German, and navigated the city independently. Living in a new environment pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way, allowing me to discover more about myself while immersing in a vibrant culture.

Overall, I can’t recommend AIFS Abroad enough. If you’re ready to explore a new city, meet amazing people, and challenge yourself while doing what you love, this program offers an experience you won’t forget.

I studied abroad in Valencia Spain at the Universidad Católica de Valencia last spring semester. I loved being able to live in a new country and experience a new culture. Valencia was the perfect mix of beach town and rich historic areas. My program director and her assistant organized activities for our group that was included in the program fee. We got to make paella, go paddleboarding, take dance lessons, watch a flamenco show, get a wine tour, and even go to Madrid for a weekend. I recommend studying abroad to anyone that wants to see the world and experience what it's like to live in a new city overseas.

I did an internship in Florence, Italy in the summer of 2025 through AIFS Abroad, and it was an amazing experience. The staff supported me every step of the way, from applying to adjusting abroad, and always made sure I felt prepared and comfortable.
The housing, excursions, and cultural activities gave me the chance to truly experience Italy, and I made great friendships through the program. This internship helped me grow in confidence and adaptability, and I gained skills that will benefit me in my career. I would recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone looking for a supportive and unforgettable international experience.

I interned at Romeing Magazine through AIFS in Rome, Italy, during the summer of 2025. I chose this program specifically because the internship aligned with my future career goals and because the reviews were highly positive. The staff beforehand was incredibly organized and made me feel calm and not overwhelmed. The on-site staff were accommodating and responsive. I still keep in touch with the program leaders on LinkedIn. I made some lifelong friends that I am planning trips with in the near future. I genuinely believe this experience changed my life, and I am very grateful to AIFS for its role in my journey. I also think professionally, AIFS is a place I would enjoy working for after I graduate. I will never forget riding on the back of a Vespa scooter through the city of Rome. Moments like these are ones I will remember when I am old and gray.

I studied in Florence, Italy during Fall 2024. I chose AIFS Abroad for a number of reasons. Having face to face interactions with AIFS staff during the application process made the steps to getting abroad much more manageable. Having the opportunity to take courses that not only worked toward my graduation goals, but also sparked interest in new areas was a huge asset to my time abroad. Through my courses, and connections at AIFS, I was able to build lifelong connections, friendships, and met with professionals who are continuing to help me achieve my goals.
Beyond the academics, the accommodations and opportunities presented through AIFS positively contributed to my time abroad. Living around the corner from the Duomo, and crossing the Ponte Vecchio everyday to get to class was a unique cultural experience. AIFS provided field trips to better immerse students in Florentine culture, and excursions outside of Florence to see beyond common tourist attractions. As a student through AIFS, we had a meal plan to use at local restaurants, access to cooking classes, museum tours, and many other opportunities at our finger tips to embrace our time abroad.
Moving across the world can be daunting, however, the friendships and connections I built through AIFS are ones I will cherish for the rest of my life. Those who share abroad experiences together with have a unique type of bond. I had the opportunity to live with five other girls who were also studying through AIFS. I never could have imagined the experienced we had together. But, now I cannot imagine living a life without them by my side. I truly feel indebted to AIFS for introducing me to my lifelong best friends.
The AIFS community is one-of-a-kind and one that I knew undoubtedly would support me through my time abroad, and continues to show up for me even a year after!
Thinking back to who I was a year ago when I was leaving the US to go abroad, compared to who I am now, is inspiring. I had no clue how much I would grow as an individual. I became more confident, outspoken, independent, and driven than I could have ever imagined. The experiences I had abroad shaped me into the person I am today.
I recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone looking for a unique abroad experience. Fueled by individuals who are eager to see you succeed, and will be there to support you every step of the way.

I was an intern in Paris through this program, and it was not only a great experience for my resume, but it also boosted my French skills and immersed me in a new culture! I felt prepared going into the program because there were many presentations and packets beforehand. But my highlight was a trip to Normandy included in my packaged experience! The beaches were much bigger than I ever would have thought, and I learned so much about the region's history at museums and historic sites! Overall, my internship brought me great friends, not only from France but from Australia and Ireland too! I got to live in an apartment, become a regular at a boulangerie, and listen to live music almost everywhere I went! I would recommend this program for anyone who truly wants to feel immersed in a culture and is willing to try new experiences!

I chose AIFS Salamanca, Spain because they had courses that worked well with my major and the price point was super reasonable. I also really liked that the city wasn’t too touristy, so I had the chance to dive into the culture and language. The staff was amazing! They answered every question I had from start to finish. Someone even went to the consulate on my behalf to help get my visa, which was so helpful. My AIFS advisor abroad was super helpful with any problem I had. She was a great resource and really knowledgeable about all things Salamanca and study abroad. At the end of the program, the staff also helped me figure out what to expect when coming home and how my transcript would be handled.
I LOVED my housing situation. I did a homestay, which was the best way to connect with the culture linguistically, socially, and food-wise. I got to travel to nearby cities, Portugal, and Basque Country, and do fun activities like visiting the cathedral, taking a cooking class, and wine tasting. I made real connections in the community too. I made friends at a local coffee shop, volunteered at an English school, and even joined a choir (I'm a music ed major so that was huge for me). This experience helped me grow a lot. It really showed me how capable I am and how to adapt when things don’t go as planned. I’d recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone who wants to improve their language skills (no matter your level), experience something totally new, and build connections.

I chose AIFS Abroad because the program was led by faculty from my home college, which gave me a sense of comfort and familiarity while stepping into a new cultural experience. I joined the Spring 2025 program at Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea, drawn by the promise of personalized learning, a small cohort, and an open-minded academic environment. From the start, I was excited to explore a new country while still feeling supported by familiar faces.

The AIFS staff were incredible! My directors were always available to chat, guide us through cultural nuances, and help with any challenges we faced. Their support made everything feel seamless. My housing was a single dorm room with a kitchenette and private bathroom, which gave me the perfect space to recharge after busy days. Highlights included unforgettable excursions to Namsan Tower and Busan, which helped me connect deeply with Korean culture.

Through this experience, I built lifelong friendships within our tight-knit cohort and formed meaningful connections with two professors who reassured my passion for learning. Personally, I gained a strong sense of independence and confidence. I now trust myself more than ever to navigate unfamiliar environments with ease. Professionally, putting myself out there was a huge step forward. One piece of advice I’d offer: study abroad your way. FOMO is real, but don’t burn yourself out trying to do everything. You made it there, and that’s already something to be proud of. I’d recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone looking for a supportive, enriching, and truly transformative experience.

I did the AIFS Shakespeare's Globe program for three weeks in London and had a great time overall. SUPER underrated program. The Globe is obviously a highly esteemed theatre company, but on top of that, the professors there are excellent, classes were informative and engaging, and have a lot to offer for theatre and literature people, though the program does mostly skew towards theatre classes.
The program is not well-advertised or explained on the AIFS website, and I felt that I did not really know what I was in for until I got there. If you are mostly an English lit person like I am, this program is basically a theatre camp, so if that is not your beat, be warned.
Also, the summer I did this program, 6 of the 9 people in my cohort were all from Hofstra University (apparently, this program is more well-advertised there), and they all knew each other. As a result, they were super clique-y and exclusionary towards the three people in the program that were not from Hofstra. In the future, I think that AIFS should put a cap on how many people can come from the same university, if possible, to avoid this. Or, possibly the easier solution, advertise this program more clearly and to more universities. It's really cool!!

I decided to go abroad alone to get the full experience. Quickly I realized I joined the wrong program. First, they have no accommodation of rides from the airport to the residential stay. For someone who is young and never been to London I took a taxi which costed $200 roughly out of pocket. Hindsight I should have took the tube but again first time to London alone I didn’t feel comfortable. Second, the residential was in the worst part of London. Very unsafe and high crime. I didn’t feel safe here but alas I was required to make the 40 minute tube ride to class every day which was ironically in the nicest part of town other side of the city. This meant waking up 2 hours before class and hoping I could make the trains correctly on my own. There is no program dinner and not many ways to meet other people beside orientation and plays the program will go to. I spent majority of the program alone because the clique system was very prominent. I do not recommend this program. The accommodations were not good and were too far from campus and in a terrible neighborhood known as White Chapel. I felt very unsafe coming in and out at night there as a young girl. If I knew now what I wish I known then I’d go to another program. My parents were not impressed and shocked that they had us in such a bad place.

I chose AIFS Abroad because of its strong reputation and the variety of programs it offered. For my semester in Paris at the American School of Business, the program provided the perfect mix of academics, cultural activities, and professional opportunities. From the very beginning, the AIFS staff made the process smooth, guiding me through pre-departure steps and answering every question I had.

Living in Paris was made easier thanks to the housing options AIFS arranged, and the excursions were some of the best parts of my time abroad. Beyond exploring new cities, the program created a supportive community where I built lasting friendships with people from across the world. The staff was always available—not just before I arrived, but also during the semester and even as I prepared to return home.

This experience pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me grow both personally and professionally. I gained independence, confidence, and skills that I know will benefit my career in international business. More importantly, I learned how to adapt, connect with others, and appreciate different cultures on a deeper level. I would recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone looking for a study abroad program that combines strong support, meaningful experiences, and lasting impact.

I had an incredible work abroad experience with AIFS Abroad. The program prioritized my company placement and ensured that it was the best match for me in terms of my goals and skills. Furthermore, AIFS played a huge role in cultural appreciation by scheduling cultural activities every week to explore different aspects of Spanish culture, such as dance, architecture, and gastronomy. AIFS definitely made my experience unique and something that I will always hold with me.

I was blown away with how much guidance I received before and during my study abroad. I was expected to have everything figured out solo but I truly had someone to ask questions about every step of the way. While I was there, my program had two directors that planned excursions (included an included one to a family-owned winery) and activities like the ballet, theater, and even coffee crawls throughout the history. They had contacts within Prague so I went to the Jewish Quarters in Prague and had a fantastic tour guide (his name was Z and he did all of the tours for my group and he was amazing!).
I was nervous based on my friends in other programs providers that if I went through a program, I wouldn't have as much free time, but everything was optional (but you will be silly not to go because they are free) and I was able to travel to 10 other countries.
Cannot recommend this program and this city enough and jealous of everyone that gets to go.
