I signed up for the affiliate program probably 15+ years ago. At the beginning, I made affiliate sales and got commissions. However at least 5 years ago, they just stopped ever giving me commissions on the sales that my links brought. I stopped promoting them for years as a result, because I felt that not paying affiliates for confirmed sales was fraudulent behavior on their part. This year, someone convinced me that they are a "real" company and that they were receiving commissions, so I should try again. I have a lot of clients who ask me for recommendations on products. I will often research something extensively and find the correct product for their issue. I send them an affiliate link and tell them I will make a small commission if they decide to purchase that item. I have sold several such items this year and the reports do show that the links were clicked and that the products were purchased. However I received zero commission on any of those products. My conclusion is that this is shady AF. I will never promote this affiliate program again. They just stop paying and won't respond to customer service emails at all either.
I can see they can terminate your account anytime they feel like.
1% comm on sex toys
Wait for 2 months for check to clear even though you set up wire transfer - who then tell you we can canx the check and pay by wire but it will be in 2 mths! - Oh and I'm still waiting ...
Worst affiliate company I know
Automated dross.
This is a scam platform I won't recommend it because you don't always get commission when someone uses your affiliate link to buy something they trick you into getting customers for their own benefit don't waste your time there's many other platform to earn from
I’ve been dealing with the Amazon Associates program for a few years now, and after three separate account closures, I’ve had enough. I’m convinced this system is set up to waste your time, deny your progress. Let me explain each experience in detail.
First Account Closure – “You Can’t Advertise Your Own Website”
This one blew my mind. I was running Google Ads to promote my own website, which had quality content and a few Amazon affiliate links sprinkled in. Nothing misleading, nothing spammy. Just a normal promotional campaign to grow my audience .
But then, Amazon shuts down my Associate account and in support chat they said I cant advertise on Google my own website. What? I wasn’t advertising Amazon directly. I wasn’t using affiliate links in my Google ads. I was simply bringing people to my OWN site. How is that a violation? Looks like customer support not qualified enough to do evaluation. its my own business to advertise my website and how and where.
It’s completely illogical. Are you seriously telling me I can't promote my own site, which I own and manage, just because on some pages I added Amazon affiliate product's links on it? Users visit my website and decide on their own whether to click those links. That’s how the web works. This excuse made no sense and was incredibly frustrating.
Second Account Denial – “You Don’t Qualify” (No Explanation)
After taking a break and re-evaluating everything, I decided to try again with a new account. I needed API to make a big project platform to help people compare the products on different marketplaces and buy them or search where to find and sell on Amazon...I applied again — and within a short time, Amazon simply replied: “Your account does not qualify for the affiliate program.”
No specifics. No explanation. Nothing. Just a cold rejection with a vague sentence. At this point, it felt like they were playing games. So I made a big pause for a 2 years. I was so frustrated that even did not want to apply again. But 2 years passed and I was thinking - I can try again. So here we go. I applied 3rd time and even received email that I was selected for special promotion deals with brands. So I was thinking - maybe this time everything will be different. But guess what?
Third Account Closure – “You Didn’t Use an Affiliate ID” (Another False Excuse)
Determined to give it one last shot I was extra careful. I used Amazon’s own Stripe Link Generator to make sure every product link had my affiliate ID baked in. I double-checked everything. And it was basically only way I could insert a link to my website. No other tools were available.
Things were looking good. I actually started getting clicks and sales.
Then boom — account closed again.
This time they said I wasn’t using affiliate IDs in my links, which is just flat-out false. I used their tool. How can they track my sales if I supposedly didn’t include my ID? Clearly they were tracking my links, since they registered conversions before deleting everything.
When I appealed, they understood that first reason provided was not good enough so they switched the reason again and claimed my website lacked unique content — despite the fact that I have a digital store with my content, products, and descriptions written by me.
This System Feels Like a Scam
Every time you start making progress, they find a new reason to shut you down and wipe out your earnings. Just a loop of building, getting shut down, and losing your commissions, sales progress. They want you to start over new account each time and erase all sales. Even I was not care much about commission because I needed access to API it was frustrating when they delete your account and qualified sales.
Bottom Line: Amazon Associates is a scam.
They lure you in, make you do the work, then shut you down right as you start making progress.
If you’re thinking of joining the Amazon Associates program, be warned: You’re not dealing with a partner — you’re walking into a scam.
I started the Amazon affiliate program to earn extra money, I had watched countless videos to try and understand what to do and what is the best way to do it and got the general gist that Pinterest was a great option from multiple sources.
My posts and affiliate links started getting quite a bit of attention on Pinterest and then every time I went on my associates account it would say 0 clicks, which I knew wasn’t true because I could see my pin stats and it showed me I had multiple outbound clicks I could of even make a commission on something.
So I emailed Amazon affiliates who told me that they don’t support Pinterest as an affiliate platform and I could not earn commission from it, google says different and so do multiple influencers, I don’t understand.
The fact that you have an affiliate that you sponsor on Tik Tok telling people she is a dictator and she’s going to put people who disagree with her in the oven on a day like the rememberance day for the haulocost is disgustingly wrong. I’ve been a prime member for years and until she loses her affiliate program I will make sure everyone know who you have speaking for you and selling your items. Adrielle Sigler is a problem and a racist and you should look her up on Tik Tok. Any questions or concerns please reach out. I would love to send th me video of her saying such horrible things
Unfortunately, my experience echoes that of many others before me. After more than a decade as an Amazon Associate (across multiple countries), we received a request for an audit (that included traffic sources, URLs, sample of affiliate links etc), which we promptly provided. Despite our efforts, they chose to close our account and don't pay any outstanding earnings (which included those generated during the peak month of December, which make us think that this could be one of their motives).
Their reasons included noticing traffic from sources not listed in our Associates account and the appearance of our special links as paid (as they said) initially. When I provided them with data from Ahrefs showing that our paid adverts had been zero, they changed their excuse to unpaid or sponsored advertisements on search engines or social media platforms.
We clarified that we never posted affiliate links on social media and never used paid / unpaid or sponsored traffic services. Despite providing very detailed evidence, including Google Analytics, Monster Insight reports, and Ahrefs screenshots, they maintained their decision to close our account. We appealed their decision, and provided more detailed evidence, but they turned our appeal down.
In the past, we could communicate over the phone directly with Amazon representatives for assistance, but this avenue seems to have disappeared. Their Twitter account doesn't accept messages either. It's evident that their approach to customer service has changed dramatically, and the lack of support for Associates, regardless of their contribution, is horrific.
This experience has led us to explore alternative monetization methods and work directly with brands to increase our commissions, as Amazon's payouts are not particularly high, and they retain the right to cut them, at any time they want, as they have done before in the past...
It's worth noting that when it comes to the operational agreement, they have double-standards.
It's not a secret that there are several large sites displaying prices (not from an API), cloaking links to track performance, and even using their own price buttons resembling those of Amazon - all of which violate the operational agreement. However, all these large sites are still part of the program...
I firmly believe that Amazon Associates' dismissive, unfair, arrogant, suspicious attitude towards its Associates will definitely have repercussions in the long term. Karma can be a bitter pill to swallow...
Nevertheless, this setback may ultimately be a blessing in disguise, prompting us to seek more rewarding opportunities beyond the confines of the Amazon Associates program, which as I mentioned, seems to completely disregard the contribution of its associates / affiliates.
They push you to use their tools, then they take their tools offline resulting in a completely broken site (sitetripe) all your images will stop working, they don't even provide an alternative except for manually changing every single image on your site... Honestly better to find a half decent affiliate program over amazon affiliates. One of the worst affiliate programs you can find.
Do not use amazon affiliate , they will terminate your account without any reason even if you comply with their T&C. There are much better affiliate programs with better commission rates.
Amazon plays around with people's minds. They aIways create password problems when I want to log into my Amazon associate or KDP accounts. Mostly then I would spend about an hour changing the passwords still with no success until I give up. Each time they say password incorrect, If I am lucky that day I will try the second time and will be able to log in. So I have not set up to receive an OTP and they force me to receive it anyway. You can not report anywhere for immediate help as they navigate you to another page to complete a form to raise a concern. The staff never get back to you. Its frustrating.
They closed my amazon associates account and stole my money.. I saw it also happened to someone else.. unbelievable..
Those guy are cheaters, after sales and approuval those cheaters they let me make money for 2 months, expecting to cashout my hard earnings $ 645 since 2 months, they just terminate my account without payment saying my information are not current, whereas they never refuse to sell even when they are not current, they never ask me for update. God will punish them all. check youtube and see how these cheaters are treating and terminating people's account without payment, check Quora,
