Its hard to believe it was almost a…
Its hard to believe it was almost a year ago but we have fabulous memories of our trip with Active New Zealand with guides Dan, Ruby, and James. It was my first time mountain biking and I absolutely loved it. We had fantastic hiking experiences and kayaking as well with all the beauty of this wonderful country. As we worked up quite an appetite every day, I was always kept well nourished with my gluten free dietary needs. The food they prepared was excellent! I am having so much fun reviewing my pictures and experiences as I sit here in Wisconsin on a 3 degree winter day and looking forward to planning another adventure with this company.

Our Active Adventures trip was well designed, met the published itinerary and was a wonderful, challenging active adventure. Our guide, Gustavo Martinez handled all of our needs and concerns with care and professionalism, and was a fount of information. He made the whole thing go smoothly. Our local guides were great as well. I would definitely go with Active Adventures again.

Choose Active if You Want to do More Than Just Check Locations off a List
Active does a terrific job of covering a lot of ground in a meaningful way. On the Rimu trip, the opportunity to hike, bike, and kayak through the most sensational parts of the South Island was wonderful. Accommodations are selected to ideally situate you among the scenery, and the guides are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.

Awesome trip!
My husband, fifteen-year-old daughter, and I had a terrific time on the Tapir trip in Ecuador. The trip included a wide variety of activities and adventures as we traveled in a loop from Quito to the highlands, down to the Amazon basin, and then back up again. Our guide Mauro and the driver/assistent guide Daniel were both great -- they were friendly and interesting to be with; knowledgable on a wealth of topics; and conducted and managed the tour so smoothly and responsibly that I felt none of the stress I often associate with travel. Our time in the Amazon basin was particularly magical.

A whirlwind and excellent introduction…
A whirlwind and excellent introduction to the S Island. My favorite part was the 3 day, 2 night Angelus circuit. It does involve a 3500 foot elevation gain with the last section fairly steep; for some travelers, Marlborough Sound kayaking might be a better alternative to the hike. Our two guides were terrific. I would certainly recommend the trip.

An unforgettable experience in NZ’s South Island
Absolutely wonderful tour in NZ’s south island, led by 2 amazing tour guides who did their utmost to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. We encountered some pretty wild weather, and Active Adventure’s response to the limitations caused by the weather was above and beyond what I would have expected from a tour company: they were totally professional. Although the tour was expensive, we definitely felt that it was worth it.

Little Big Patagonia Adventure 2019
I usually don’t write review, but this trip is an exception. I caught the hiking “bug” in New Zealand ever since I signed up with Hiking New Zealand Secret South tour in 2013. Something in the kiwi hospitality, warm and relaxed style made me fell in love. Took me long enough to travel with them again. Booking as a solo traveler, it was refreshing to see “No Forced Single Supplement”.
At the risk of sounding very cliché, Torres del Paine and Patagonia is close to the top of my bucket list and I wanted to do it right. Overall, the trip by Active Adventure was well organized and seamless, from accommodations, transports, meals, hikes and other activities (biking and cycling). We went at our own pace on the hikes, with the guides sharing their knowledge and experience as we go along.
I don’t normally go on a hike with a guide, especially a local one. Hiking with one is definitely more enriching and adds another dimension to the experience. The guides throughout the trip were knowledgeable locals who were very warm, joyful and full of spirit. You can see their sincere love for their country and were very proud sharing its beauty with us.
Patagonia lived up to its expectations and more. Photos don’t do justice its majestic landscape, you have to be there to experience it. To look up at the three sheer granite peaks of Torres del Paine after a long hike up is something I always remember. Thank you, Active Adventures, for making our trip a memorable and colorful experience.

A prefect trip.
Everything was well done and fully professional all the way. When we became marooned due to flooding on the last day of the tour the company flew us out at their expense so clients could catch international flights. That is true customer service.

Active Adventures: Great Tours/ Great Guides
I have toured with Active Adventures in Peru, Ecuador, and New Zealand....have always been impressed with the itineraries, the knowledge and exuberant energy of their guides. I enjoy not having to deal with add on costs...Active has pricing up front and includes optional add-on side adventures that you choose in your trip cost. They choose great off the beaten path lodges/hotels and restaurants. The guides know the local history and flora/fauna of the areas you travel in. I highly recommend touring with Active as they keep group sizes to 14 or less...offer numerous daily options if you don't want to do the main group activity. A fantastic tour company for anyone!!!

Awesome trip to Ecuador
Awesome trip. Ecuador is a beautiful country. Active Adventures was very organized and the activities and accommodations were all high quality. I traveled on my own, and I was very comfortable and included and had a lot of fun.

I’d definitely recommend Active…
I’d definitely recommend Active Adventures for any small group trip. I just did their Tui trip of the South Island of New Zealand and had an amazing time. Everything was top notch- guides, transport vehicle, accommodation, snacks, etc. You will not regret booking a trip with them!

The leaders were fabulous
The leaders were fabulous. Some of the accommodations were a little rough....I actually walked upstairs with a mouse...(sorry but true) But really, the countryside was spectacular; it is real and not a disneyland experience. I did feel there were times where the group was tired of "home cooking" and would have been so happy to stop for a pizza!.

Hi Barbara, we’re stoked you had a great time with Katie and Emily! Sounds like you had an additional, unwanted guest though, we’ll be sure to check that out! We choose the places we stay mainly due to their location in wilderness areas - a fair bit of thought goes into our location choices, we aim to stick to the mantra of getting ‘off the beaten track’ and accommodation is limited in places, besides, we prefer to be nestled in isolated areas. These locations do mean our guides are cooking for you though we pride ourselves on being able to provide traditional kiwi meals on our trips. Everyone does love a good Pizza though, so we'll consider your recommendation!

This is the third trip we have done with Active Adventures. They never disappoint. The itinerary includes the top places to see and activities to make it so memorable. The guides are so informative and flexible in cases where they must make last minute changes in the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances. They kept us safe and very well fed
