Passed with 7 minors second time around with Brian Torbitt as my instructor. I worked with him from January this year to today and he was wonderful to work with, very clear in his instruction but always willing to have a laugh when mistakes are made on my end and make me feel at ease. Highly recommend working with him, he’s alway good at communicating times and lessons and any changes that arise.

Quick, easy and allowed me to pass first time

Amazing customer service from Acclaim driving. I moved from a previous driving school to acclaim and felt my confidence boost significantly. Passed with only 3 minors which I could not have done without my instructor Hamish Catanach. They are so friendly and patient. 100% recommend this to new learners.

My granda Brian Torbitt is a great instructor who helped me get my pass on the first try. His teaching is very effective so that I was fully confident in my abilities to go do my test.

I had lessons with Acclaim from August 2024 until September 2026. I started off with Liz, who I had lessons with until July 2025 (during which I took and failed 2 tests). She has since left the company but her teaching style was great, although she had a tendency to cancel lessons last minute due to health issues. She left the company around June 2026, and Acclaim offered for me to start lessons with a new instructor in July, which I accepted. Acclaim's office are amazing with admin. They were always quick to respond and willing to help in any way they could regarding lesson scheduling or payments, and they made the booking process very easy. I had 6 lessons with my new instructor on the run up to my last test, which I passed. He was nice and always on time, and he managed to get me back into driving after a year to allow me to pass. However, as someone who struggles with anxiety, I do not feel as though he catered to my needs particularly well. He knew I was quite nervous on the run up to my test, and whenever I made silly mistakes due to these nerves, his response was to complain at me. He would say things like 'What are you doing silly girl?' in an annoyed tone and then proceed to complain in a patronising tone. I also found that he mumbled his directions a lot, which put me on edge more as he would complain if I missed a turn due to not hearing him. I know that it's normal to be annoyed by stupid mistakes, but comments like this made me feel much more nervous about driving than I had ever felt with my previous instructor. Asides from this, he was nice and he did his job fairly well, but I would not recommend him as an instructor to those who struggle with anxiety, particularly if you have not had another instructor beforehand. Other than the minor issues I experienced in the latter portion of driving lessons with Acclaim, I feel as though the service provided was of a high standard.

Rich Cotter was a brilliant instructor, helping me grapple the very basics of learning to drive all the way through to passing my test on my first attempt. He is very friendly, patient, and great at putting you at ease. I couldn’t recommend him more!

Ben Smart is a fantastic, first-class instructor who makes you feel comfortable and who you can have a good laugh with. I went from someone who got anxious just seeing a learner car to someone who felt confident behind the wheel and passed first time. That is all thanks to Ben!

A big shoutout to Francis Tickell for getting me a Pass first time. He has been incredible in tailoring his teaching methods to my style of learning whilst being patient and encouraging throughout my whole journey.
He's gone out of his way to accomodate my needs, make me feel at ease and boost my confidence and I couldnt be more thankful - a real assett to Acclaim. Bonus - he's got a great sense of humour which takes the pressure away from it all. I highly recommend booking with Francis

Brilliant instructors easy to apply can’t reccomend it enough

I have always been a very anxious and nervous driver and I never thought I would be capable of driving due to my anxiety. I have had numerous instructors, but none of them could improve my confidence until I met my instructor Tanzeem Effendi from Acclaim driving. He is the most calm instructor. Honestly the way my confidence improved in such a short amount of time is amazing. I never thought I’d see the day where I would pass my driving (thank the Lord), but I finally got there with the help of my amazing instructor. I can’t put into words what a great teacher he is. If you are an anxious driver, he is definitely the instructor you need. Highly recommend!
