My experience with AOLL has been deeply disappointing. The course platform is not dyslexia-friendly, and the marking system is completely subjective, with no clear criteria for distinctions vs. merits. Tutor support was virtually non-existent, and when I flagged accessibility issues, I was only acknowledged at the end of the course. Study materials were outdated (some nearly a decade old), and assignments documents are poorly formatted. Due to inconsistent marking, I didn’t achieve the grades I deserved, not the support I required, forcing me to retake the course elsewhere. AOLL does not prepare students for university—I strongly advise looking elsewhere.

I completed the diploma in paramedic science. Over all this was a good course and would recommend it. The platform was easier enough to negotiate and the tutors were on hand as and when needed.

This course has equipped me with great knowledge about the health care sector as well as providing me the necessary academic skills such as essay writing, referencing and how to choose the relevant resources.

I completed the Access to Higher Education Diploma, which is specifically structured to meet university requirements for a dietetics and nutrition degree. The course covers a broad range of units, preparing students for further study in this field. In addition to chemistry and biology, subjects like research skills and academic writing help equip students for university-level study.
The study materials are well-designed, but you are expected to conduct your own research and studies. Activities at the end of each module allow you to test your knowledge before taking assessments. The assessments are well-structured and clear, and the tutor feedback is comprehensive and useful. Tutor support is readily available, and they respond promptly. One thing I would have appreciated is a list of recommended readings for each module.
In my opinion, the Access to Higher Education Diploma is the easiest way to get into university for those who do not have A-Levels.
