I Was a frequent shopper at Academy Sports in Athens, GA. In stating Was, refers to I will no longer be shopping there or at Any Academy Sports stores and spread the word to all that Academy has Stopped honoring Veterans and Active Duty Military. I recently shopped and found out at checkout (No emails or communication from Academy) that they Quit offering Military and Veteran Discount. Also, Checkout lines are usually long and wait to checkout is usually not Consumer friendly. This recent shop, the register customer service lady was not friendly, offered no assistance and was uninformative or helpful. I ALWAYS cross off and stop using businesses like CVS, and now Academy that Do Not support Veterans and Military. I do however, keep shopping at businesses like Home Depot and Lowe's and Dicks Sporting Goods for their support and discounts to Veterans and Miltary Always (Not just on Veterans Day or once a year). In closing, Academy Sports should really look at how much business they will be loosing vs. Trying to save a quick buck. We'll, when Academy goes back to doing this I may consider shopping again. Until then myself and family and friends that are Veterans will not.

There stuff to expensive I’ll never buy from there as when you can go to other sports store and get the stuff cheaper so i walked out buying nothing.
And don’t try to get a job there ether I tryed and got put right out the door which they don’t pay worth a crap anyways

I had an outstanding experience at the Academy Sports on Northwest Loop 410 in San Antonio. I recently purchased a Ruger MAX-9 and a Holosun HS407K X2 red dot for my SIG P365 X-Macro, and the entire process couldn’t have gone any smoother.

A special thank you to Gabriel for his outstanding customer service. He was friendly, upbeat, knowledgeable, and made the entire purchase effortless. Everything was handled quickly and professionally with absolutely no pressure, just great service from start to finish.

That’s exactly how I like to shop: no muss no fuss. Gabriel made the experience enjoyable, and I’ll definitely be returning to this location for future firearm and accessory purchases. Highly recommended!

I unfortunately have had an awful experience with Academy sports online ordering. Their app is so slow, theirs a lag that is so frustrating and makes your selecting process all screwed up. They also changed my credit card without sending me the new card. I was in their app trying to place an order and utilize the 20% off promotion when I discovered this. They would not provide the new cc info or provide my promo code for when I received the card to place the order. Once I pay the remainder of my bill, I'm done

I ordered fishing stuff a week in advance and it did not ship until 3 days after I bought it. Because of that, it will arrive after I leave town and there’s nothing I can do about it, Bad business. Fortunately, all my bass pro shops and dicks items will be here 3 days before I leave and I ordered it yesterday.

What started as a return became disturbing. I had purchased a fish retrieving net, which I decided to return. Purchase price $35. The sales associate said that since I didn't have a receipt my Academy Rewards card would be credited $10.34. I could not believe what I was being told. I asked why and was told I was getting the cheapest price the item had sold for in the past two (2) months. I could not believe the item had ever sold for $10.00, and I told the associate I would buy a dozen at that price. I asked to speak to a manager who asked when I purchased the item, 3 days prior. He asked if the My Academy Rewards card was mine. Then another member of management gets involved and guess what, the two looked up my receipt of purchase and refunded the full amount. That's why I give this Academy Sports Store in Harbison, Columbia, SC a 5 Star Review. The two managers actually took time to provide great customer service and turned a bad situation into keeping a regular customer coming. Thank you to these two for helping a 75 year old man who lost his receipt in 3 days.

I took my friend here to return some items without a receipt and they sent him around the world and still didn't return the items. He simply lost his receipt if you don't pass there inspection on looking right,they want let you return .they shouldn't be able to pick and choose who can and can't return there merchandise.

Worst retail experience I have had in my entire life. Order purchased June 4th, 3 out of the 9 items arrived while the other 6 items were "shipped" but never scanned by fedex, so they truly just never dropped it off and continuously lied to me. The items I did receive were all defective as well. This business is terrible and anything they sell can literally be purchased ANYWHERE else for a significantly better price.

Ordered 1 box of ammo, said it would be delivered Jun 8-10. I reached out to their chat on the 10th, as there was still no tracking information or movement just "waiting to be shipped". They told me they are POSITIVE that it was shipped, and to wait until the 15th and if I still didn't see anything, to reach out. I reached out again on the 16th and they told me they're checking fedex tracking information. I said there IS no tracking information because it hasn't been shipped yet. They then offered a refund, which I took and will be taking my business elsewhere.

After years of spending my hard earned money at academy, where all my hunting and fishing equipment has all come from. they decided I was not worth them honoring a 15 dollar coupon.

Andy was great at the counter worked efficiently and got me what I needed in a timely manner 10/10 would recommend to anyone

This is the WORST store where you will experience the worst customer dealing, also they don’t have any complaint forms. (3505 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA 30606) No wonder why the service is so bad, because you can’t complain about anyone!
The gun store people are super rude as if they don’t care about the reputation of the store at all. I bought a $1200 gun from them, Now they knew I was stuck with them, they were behaving badly after. the employee there told me to go somewhere else because he was mad on me asking that why I have to go for another back ground check (they changed their system and didn’t inform me that I have to fill it out again, I was just waiting for them to contact me and update me)
I politley asked they will it put a flag on the current inquiry with the FBI people, he didn’t know the answer and got rude as it may have hurt his ego. I called the manager regarding this incident she said she is the only one to take care of these things and was offering me to accept a gift card instead of an apology. This is the reason such big brands get finished. Then I managed to talk to the director, The director here is a good man, he assured me that it won’t affect my background check after checking everything on his new system.
I won’t recommend this store guys especially for guns. NEVER GO THERE! I am stuck I have to, just for this last time.

Sports academy is a very racist store. The store manager accused 2 black kids of stealing when they came to the store to return something not to buy anything & had nothing in their hands. She called the police they reviewed the cameras & just as I thought they never took anything! She had the police trespass the kids because the police didn’t do anything because nothing was taken from the store whatsoever her name is Daniel & she is rude asf I no longer support this store & I would not encourage any black patrons to support this establishment… they need new leadership & she needs to be fired or reprimanded she called the police for absolutely nothing & waisted tax payers dollars when she knew those kids did nothing & had that been a ego driven police it could have ended bad for those kids & glad I was there to stand up for them because she was up to no good from the jump this happened yesterday in Tallahassee Fla mahan location… shopping while black & last I checked all races should be welcomed & if she don’t support the mission of store & brand they need to let her go asap & I will be calling corporate too

I bought a $400.00 pool yesterday. It was an open box and used pool. Some worker delivered to my truck. I went inside the store and told the cashier the box was open and the pool was used (it was another brand brown pool) so they exchanged It. The second pool was ripped (I noticed until we open the box at the house) and I went to the store to return it and they told me no returns/exchange. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. THEY NEVER MENTION THIS POLICY ABOUT POOLS. Now I have to see if BESTWAY can send me a replacement. We cant even use the pool. This sucks!!! WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT! They should put a sign or mention the no returns/exchange “policy” before buying it. DONT BUY HERE! THIS STORE SUCKS! Go walmart instead.

in 10 attempts to purchase e gift cards, 5 were successful and 5 required follow up to customer service. each customer service call takes about 30 minutes to an hour which makes the process even more frustrating. Not that it matters but I will never shop Academy again.

I purchased 4 pair of Puma's from Academy online and used Paypal 6 months same as cash to pay. For some reason they split my order, and the payment which puts it below the minimum and only gives me 30 days interest free to pay. Next I get 1/2 the order with the understanding that the rest will be a day behind it. 4 days later I got a text that said my order had just been delivered, only problem, It wasn't there. It's impossible to get anyone to answer the phone, the chat system doesn't work, and they don't respond to emails. I've also received 17 texts and emails about this order before I received any of it, so if you want poor customer, service, in addition to your phone and email being blown up, Academy Sports is the place for you.

Bait and Switch: False Inventory Promises and Trapped Fund

I experienced a textbook bait-and-switch with Academy's inventory management and appalling customer service. Before ordering a $200 ActionHeat sleeping bag, I specifically used their site chat to confirm the item was actually in stock because I didn't want my money tied up. The representative explicitly guaranteed the inventory was there and urged me to order.
I placed the order using Apple Pay. Three days later (May 5th), I received a generic automated email stating the order was canceled due to being "out of stock." My $200 is now held hostage in a pending bank authorization for up to a week.

When I contacted customer service again to express my frustration over being lied to, the representative offered zero accountability, gave a robotic apology, and rudely dismissed me by asking, "Is there anything else I can talk to you about?

Do not trust their website inventory, and do not expect their support team to help you when their system traps your money. Buyer beware.

I ordered and received a pop up batting tee for my grandkids. I was so disappointed with this product. It came with very small plastic balls 1.5 inches in dia. In the details of product it says will pop up plastic balls 41 inches. It stated you could use plastic size baseballs also plastic softballs. That was a lie unless I r golfing. Was the poorest excuse for this product I have ever seen and when I contacted them I was hung up on after I said it did not work and was and I was upset that a company of their reputation would sell crap like this. I would expect this if I bought this from eal Mart. They literally will do nothing. I am out money for tee and plastic baseballs and softballs. Not to mention 3 sad grandchildren after I drove all that way just to give them a piece of crap.

If I could give Academy Sports a 0 rating I would have. I ordered a pair of shorts off the website and was sent the wrong size, then I had to drive to another town to either get a refund or trade the shorts for some of the same value. The shorts online were only $24, the Academy Sports in Jonesboro has zero clothes for $24. They are so ridiculously over priced and they do not have ANY plus size sizes. I guess chubby people arent welcome. I couldn't find anything in my size so the stuck up cashier put the money on a gift card that I can ONLY USE IN THAT OVERPRICED STORE. So basically they took my money and the shorts and gave me trash. I also tried calling the Jonesboro, AR store 3 times this morning and was hung up on all 3 times. Horrible work ethic, horrible customer service, and EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
