Experience far exceeds expectations (from poor website)
Updated 14/2/24
Buying one of these online looked extremely risky - the terms and conditions that I had to accept before subscribing to get an offered 10% discount, talked about having to accept a possible 6 month delay before an item might be delivered! But these were from 2021 so I RANG THEIR SALES NUMBER and talked to a lovely helpful lady called Lorraine who confirmed availability of an Able Sling and undertook to dispatch one the same day for us. She was also very familiar with the products which I found reassuring. Had I not reached out by telephone I would have been half convinced this company is not serious - however, we got a door knock next morning. I am now updating the rating to 5 stars and hope mum won't have any problems with the Able Sling. The L size sling we bought is now fitted in her wheelchair, I am excited to see how she tolerates sitting in it for a spin round the park for some fresh air, as a first step.
The company have responded to me taking on board the website problems I reported and I do hope they will fix those because many others might, like I was, be discouraged from buying what looks like a great help for wheelchair users.
Summary
[Original review from 8/2/24.]
- Company seems to be understaffed and find it difficult to respond in a timely manner to customer queries.
- Products have very good marketing videos but I have been unable to find confirmed independent reviews. I've seen a blog review and a youtube video raving about the ableSling but both were supplied gratis to the reviewer so I must take them with a pinch of salt.
Details
Have been looking into buying a transfer sling for mum to increase our ability to take her out of the house and saw the ableSling mentioned favourably on one website. When I tried to figure out what size to order for her, the instructions on their website are confusing to useless.
It says to measure C and K as shown in a diagram and then to look up the best size in the table below the diagram. BUT the table does not mention the C and K sizes! (instead referring to 'Total Width' and other measurements not shown in the diagram.) I asked them via their chat feature "Why is that ?" and "In the diagram C is listed as 'Hip Width' not 'Total Width' Why are you making it needlessly confusing for customers? The table below the diagram has a column heading 'Cushion Space' defined as W times L but there is NO 'W' measurement in the diagram and the 'L' measurement is the LOWER LEG length that would be inappropriate to use for a cushion size!"
It looks like the owner is running the business on his own as he eventually replied. It was not explained, rather he asked me to provide a DIFFERENT set of measurements..
As it was taking so long for replies, I tried booking a zoom call with the owner via the facility on the webpage (which seemed a smart feature). I booked it and got a confirmation email telling me I had a slot booked, and a link to a zoom call. So I installed zoom on my phone but after waiting 15min for the meeting to begin I luckily noticed a chat message on the pc from the owner tellling me that he was in London and would not be able to join the call. If I had not taken a look at the pc again I don't know how long I would have been sat by mum waiting to talk to Josh. Obviously it is a good idea, if you know you're going to be busy, to not allow your website to make commitments by booking you in for meetings with potential customers.
