10 months of poor communication, broken promises, minimal progress and no accountability – GC / Northern NSW
Our experience with ABC Group has been terrible.
For over 10 months, our repair process involved constant delays, repeated changes of subcontractors, broken commitments, and a complete lack of accountability. Progress was extremely slow, with long periods where no work occurred at all despite numerous site visits.
ABC Group does not carry out the building work itself. All work is arranged through subcontractors, which in our case resulted in endless site visits for new quotes, no continuity, and little follow-through. We were repeatedly told that progress would occur, only for timelines to pass without action or explanation.
In the end, despite many site visits, only a small portion of the work was actually completed. This left our only access into our home — the internal stairs — in an unsafe condition for approximately two months. This situation was stressful and unacceptable. Ultimately, we had no choice but to resolve the issue ourselves by engaging our own builder just to make our home safe again.
Communication throughout was extremely poor. Calls and emails often went unanswered, updates were vague or nonexistent, and when issues arose, responsibility was consistently deflected rather than resolved. As the customer, we carried the stress, disruption, and inconvenience of their failure to manage the process effectively.
Ultimately, ABC Group was removed from our insurance claim by the insurer due to poor performance. This alone speaks volumes about our experience.
If your insurer assigns ABC Group to your claim, I strongly recommend requesting an alternative provider or a cash settlement. Based on our experience in the Gold Coast / Northern NSW region, this company caused far more frustration, disruption, and risk than resolution.
This review is based on our genuine experience. Other regions may operate differently, but our experience was consistently poor from start to finish, and we would never choose to work with this company again.
