AB Launch Omdömen 13

As a German startup, I wanted to launch a €25 gadget on Kickstarter. My goal was to see if it was worth launching and to test the market first. I would highly recommend this testing phase to any startup thinking about crowdfunding.

The Setup & The Results:
Andrea and his design team agreed on an individual budget with me and were incredibly helpful during the pre-launch testing phase. They created a professional, fast-loading landing page for the test. We ran Meta Ads and used the funnel to test our CPL (cost per lead) and CPD (cost per $1 deposit).

After about 3 weeks, these were our results:

CPL: Around €3 (a bit more than $3), which was okay.

CPD: Over €80.

Our original goal was to keep the CPL at €2.50 and the CPD at around $10. Since we missed these targets, it showed that launching my gadget on Kickstarter doesn't make financial sense right now. Additionally, because I don't have large social media channels yet, the campaign is likely not viable for me.

Working with AB & Lessons Learned:
The collaboration with AB was very professional, structured, fast, and reliable.

However, looking back, I learned a big lesson:
I shouldn't have invested money in the main Kickstarter video before doing the pre-launch test. To test the market, it would have been enough (and much cheaper) to just create a few short video- and photo ads and professional photos for the landing page. If the KPIs had been convincing later on, we could have invested in the big (and expensive) video production.
