442 Football Academy was set up by Ian Miller in 2015 who, having completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport Health and Exercise from Cambridge Anglia Polytechnic University, then went on to have a successful professional football career. Highlights included captaining three different teams to victory at Wembley stadium and a 4th Round FA Cup tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 spectators. Whilst completing his degree, Ian worked at West Suffolk College coaching within their successful football school. His personality, knowledge and demeanour led him to a lecturing job, teaching students various sporting subjects. It was here that he worked with disabled and disaffected students within Minden House at West Suffolk College. During Ian’s early years of professional football, he gained as much knowledge within coaching as possible, completing the Football Association level 1 & 2 in football coaching. Ian’s career to date includes playing more than 300 semi-professional and in excess of 250 professional games. In 2015, he began to plan for his future when he would have to hang up his boots. Thus, with his huge love for the game and having 3 young sons, this is where 442 Football Academy was founded.

Skills and sportsmanship
My son has had numerous opportunities to join 442 holiday camps and has always had an incredible time. Not only has he learned valuable football skills, but the emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship that Ian instills in the children is absolutely excellent.

Ian is great with the kids, our son responds really well to him which isn't always easy as Alex has aspergers and listening isn't always his strong point!

Holiday clubs
My boys have joined the holiday club sessions on a number of occasions and have loved every second. The sessions have been fun as well as pushed them to enhance their skills. I would highly recommend.

Tots football
Ian is excellent with the kids, so patient and keeps it fun. My daughter has gone from hiding behind my leg at the start of sessions to being full of confidence and eager to get involved. It's been great to watch her develop.

Our 4 year old son absolutely loves the…
Our 4 year old son absolutely loves the sessions Ian runs. He is engaging, makes the fun and interactive. Pitches the content at the right level whilst trying to push and stretch the kids to reach beyond their comfort zone. Highly recommend

Passionate Coach
Ian is a passionate Coach, striking the perfect balance of encouraging and supporting the kids whilst getting them back in line when appropriate to do so. He has a great rapport with kids and parents alike, and I can honestly say I look forward to the sessions as much as my Son does!

Amazing camps and clubs
My son has been attending Ian’s camps and Wednesday clubs for a couple of years, both as well as the parties 442 offers are professionally run and I couldn’t recommend 442 enough, my son loves football but was nervous to start but Ian made any nerves quickly disappear and he cannot wait until football is back and he can see his friends

Fabulous experience.
Ian was very welcome from the start and very helpful to explain how the training will be. We can't wait to get back to the pitch and join the rest of the team and meet each other.

Football Wednesdays!
My son attends the 442 football coaching on a Wednesday evening. At first he wasn’t sure and was nervous to take part but Ian didn’t push him at all and let him go at his own pace. He now loves going and can’t wait for football Wednesday to start up again in April!
