I have studied French at other French language schools in France and 'Ecole De Trois Ponts' is by far the very best. The staff there are so attentative to your needs. The teachers are excellent and friendly. At this school you can stay in-house, eat in-house and there are also great tours. I'm celiac and the chef really took special care to my dietary needs.
The meals, breakfast lunch and dinner are devine.

The educational experience was superb. The location was nice and peaceful. The educators were top notch and knew how to teach. They were very helpful, patient, flexible and coached and counseled until they were sure that students made progress and were happy with their succes.
Hiking was challenging, fun and very beneficial for fitness and learning French.
Visits to historical sites and villages were led by guides and explained in French. Trachers and staff were available to help students with questions and translation if needed.
Lunches and dinners were awesome. Dinners were always four courses and each course was explained to us by the chef. She even described the different cheeses and showed us where they came from on wooden display of map of France.
We were in total immersion; with French only spoken please.
I signed up for 4 weeks and if I could stay longer I would have. During my four weeks I met many returing students. These students were on their 2nd, 3rd or 4th time studying at the school. They were helpful patient as well.
It was an amazing experience that I will always cherish.

Ma femme et moi avons récemment séjourné à LÉcole de Trois Ponts pendant trois semaines. Il était une experience exceptionnel. Nous avons débutants en français et l’école a offert l'expérience optimale pour développer nos langues compétences.

Les professeures (Genevieve, Maude, Monique, Camille) étaient excellentes, l’école était comfortable, et l'interaction sociale avec les autres étudiants était essentielle. Nous le recommandons vivement.

The experience was fantastic overall. The team is very welcoming friendly and professional. The house itself is comfortable and the food provided is a feature in itself. The teaching was organized and well-planned to suit the different levels. The activities offered..the walks, the visits and the cooking classes were well-run and catered for all types of people. There was also a lot of information about activities , places and transport outside of class time. It was truly a memorable experience for me.

I am writing this in English because I cannot create accents using the normal method.
I benefited greatly from my stay at Ecole des Trois Ponts, although I only stayed for one week. The standard of teaching is high, but less structured than other courses that I have attended. Our tutor Camille was very friendly and helpful, and our group of 5 students got along well, and we were all about the same standard with regard to our French language skills. Camille made the lessons interesting and relevant to our needs (mostly looking to improve our comprehension of spoken French). I came away having learnt a lot of useful points.
Martin and Valerie are both extremely pleasant and helpful. The school is located in a suburban setting quite near to the attractive town of Roanne on the banks of the Loire, with a direct train link to Lyon. There is a garden for students to enjoy in good weather, and a country park is quite close by.
The dinners are excellent, befitting a school which also provides culinary lessons.
My only criticism is of the bedroom. The blue duvet was too heavy and rigid, and the mattress was quite hard. Also, it would be nice to have a net curtain between the glass doors and the curtain, so as to have both privacy and daylight at the same time.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Ecole des Trois Ponts because the level of teaching is pitched at the appropriate level for the students attending, it is situated in a pleasing environment, and the admin and teaching staff are extremely able and friendly.

My experience at L'Ecole des Trois Ponts was exceptional. The school is a first-rate operation.

I absolutely loved my two weeks at École des Trois Ponts. The school truly felt like a home away from home—I felt supported, fully engaged in learning, and I genuinely had fun throughout my stay. I was especially fortunate to have the same teacher for both weeks, which made a big difference in my progress and overall experience.

Martin, Valérie, Camille, Chef Irène, and the rest of the staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Their warmth and dedication are a big part of what makes the school so special.

The school is located in a beautiful part of France, surrounded by rolling hills and dairy farms, which adds to the peaceful and immersive atmosphere.

The rooms are simple but met all my needs. I especially appreciated having time after dinner to decompress and let my brain rest—it’s an important part of the learning process.

I left with a much clearer roadmap for how to continue improving my French, which was incredibly valuable. Just as importantly, I made wonderful connections and hope to return next year—ideally with some of the same friends I met this time.

If I could suggest one small addition, it would be to offer an optional grammar-focused class one or two afternoons per week for those who want/need additional help (a paid course add-on).

L'École des Trois Ponts propose un merveilleux programme d'immersion en français. Les professeurs sont excellents et la taille réduite des classes permet un suivi personnalisé. De plus, l'école offre une atmosphère chaleureuse, avec des hébergements confortables et des repas exquis préparés par un chef sur place. J'ai beaucoup apprécié mon séjour de trois semaines et je recommande vivement cette école pour améliorer rapidement votre français.

Mon professeur principal était Maud et elle m'a énormément aidée grâce à son excellent enseignement, sa patience et son bon sens de d'humour. Notre groupe d'étudiants était agréable et solidaire, et nos conversations pendant les trois repas quotidiens ont contribué à l'apprentissage car nous devions constamment réfléchir en français. I wish I had known that there were no students at my level. It was difficult to assimilate because the majority of students were at much higher comprehension and speaking levels than I was. Therefore, they seemed impatient with me in the class. However, the school staff is very professional and well meaning. If you go, confirm ahead of time that there is a course level that will meet your needs. Meals are delicious and educational.

Mon expérience á l’École de Trois Ponts était extraodinaire. Jái reçu une recommendation de Clare Posnack et tout était comme elle a décrit. Voici ce que j’ai le plus appreciées.
• Les chambres sont simple, mais complête et confortable. D’avoir hérbergement á l’école était practique. On n’a pas besoin d’une voiture.
• J’ai bien aimé les repas pris en compagnie des autres étudiants. La présence des professeurs á table était un plus. On avait eu l’opportunité de les connaître dehors de la classe.
• Sophie !! Elle est super !! Les repas étaient delicieux et variés. J’ai beaucoup apprécié les petites leçons sur le fromage du regions de la France. Étant végétarienne et elle m’a servi de merveilleux repas.
• Jai apprécié que les leçons étaient adaptés á mes besoins. Par exemple, j’ai besoin plus clarement d’apprendre comment on utilise « Y » et « en. » Elle m’a donné beaucoup de leçons á ce sujet.
• Maud et Camille éxpliquent les leçons avec beaucoup de patience. Leur connaissance des détails de la langue étaient evidente. Elles ont utilisé l’humour et les encouragements.
• Lisa était très utile quand nous avons raté l’arrêt de train. Nous en étions un peu paniqués.
Je veux retourner lánnée prochaine!

La directrice, Valérie, Lisa, notre professeure Monique, et toute l'équipe ont été très accueillantes, gentilles et encourageantes. Les élèves étaient très motivés et, même si j’ai passé seulement une semaine, j'ai m’amélioré en français parlé. (En fait, c’est surprenant, mais j’ai commencé de parler en français encore plus pendant mon séjour de deux semaines à Lyon après le temps à Riorges !) Les excursions du école après les cours de l'après-midi étaient très agréables et chaque jour, on a essayé des spécialités françaises et beaucoup de fromage. Si vous souhaitez améliorer votre français et appréciez les cours en petits groupes (quatre ou cinq élèves seulement), il est peut-être préférable de passer au moins deux semaines dans cette école. This school is beloved by many as the team led by Valérie is excellent. Class sizes are small, with ample opportunities for interactions between the teacher and very motivated classmates. The afternoon excursions were pleasant and everyday, we got to try French dishes and many different cheeses. A week’s stay is just right for the “experience”, but more serious learners may find it better to stay for at least two weeks to make even more significant progress. I’m pleased to say that rather surprisingly, I started to speak much more and even interacted a fair bit with the locals (Uber rides, restaurants, cafés, supermarkets, museums, shops, hotel staff, etc) throughout my two-week stay in Lyon right after my time at the school. J'ai été surprise de voir que la plupart des élèves y étaient allés plusieurs fois, certains plus de dix fois. Incroyable !
Je pense qu'ils y retournent si souvent grâce à la nourriture, qui était excellente. Il n'y avait plus de place à l'école, alors j'ai logé chez une Française qui vivait seule. Elle était adorable, elle m'a préparé le petit-déjeuner, on a discuté et joué aux cartes. J'ai connu leur ami et parents ainsi pu parler avec des Français. Ma classe ne comptait que quatre élèves, Je remercie a le professeur qui etait super et a chef Sophie qui nous preparait le deliceuses repas. Il y avait tous les après-midi la randonee sur les sentiers de la région avec Valerie, merci Valerie. Nous marchions entre 7 et 10 km par jour, sauf le mercredi. Bref, c'était au-delà de mes espérances et j'espère bien y retourner. Merci a le Ecole, il était parfait.

C'était mon seizième visite à la Ecole de Trois Ponts. Seulement cela ça veut dire combien j’apprécie cette expérience. Je vous recommande, soit débutant, soit avancé.

Je vais à l’école chaque année et comme toujours, c’était une semaine pleine de rires et des repas splendides dans une ambiance géniale et chaleureuse. J’ai fait des randonnées les après-midis avec le groupe, menée par la directrice, Valérie - qui est toujours pleine d’énergie et d’enthousiasme pour la langue française et la région Roannaise. A la prochaine fois!👍

J’ai passé trois semaines géniales à l’École des Trois Ponts et j’ai vraiment adoré. Les profs étaient super sympas — vraiment patients et passionnés pour nous aider à progresser en français. J’ai particulièrement apprécié le temps en tête-à-tête avec eux, ça m’a beaucoup aidée pour mon français parlé.

Tout le monde à l’école était super accueillant, et je me suis sentie à l’aise dès le premier jour. La visite historique était incroyable — vraiment intéressante et une super façon de découvrir la culture locale. J’ai aussi rencontré des étudiants du monde entier, ce qui a rendu l’expérience encore plus sympa.

Si vous cherchez un endroit pour vous plonger complètement dans le français, je recommande vivement Trois Ponts. Je suis repartie plus confiante en français et avec plein de beaux souvenirs !

I had attended the school previously, first to accelerate spoken French as a hobby, and later on to gain confidence in daily life in French as there was a need to fulfill a work assignment in the Paris area. My most recent visit took place after years away with limited speaking opportunities. I was worried and a little embarrassed - all that melted away when I walked in the door. I was greeted like family, as were the other return guests and newer students. Everyone was encouraging and the group was delightful - comprised of adult learners from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. French classes were tailored to the needs of the group and both rigorous and fun. The professors led well prepared lessons with a mix of grammatical challenges and aural, written and video-based comprehension exercises covering interesting topics such as the life of Josephine Baker. Meals were very good, with the chef accommodating everyone’s dietary needs. The rooms are quiet and private though rather dormlike - don’t expect luxe - but students who need a recharge will find them to be a nice retreat. The local area is beautiful in the early fall, and I recommend taking walks or joining any of the planned history, gastronomy or hiking excursions. If you want to really learn, but in a relaxed environment, I highly recommend this school.

Well thought out french conversation with a culinary experience. It's difficult to find a course with both
Cooking: We enjoyed a wide range of foods, preparation and cooking -the experience was interesting and enjoyable even if I don't cook this at home. We enjoyed learning some complex cooking skills/ art. For a few complex skills I would have liked a short demonstration - it would ease the tension between learning a cooking method at the same time as speaking/ translating french.
Sophie the chef was exceptional. The meal created was part of an ongoing culinary evening, wine and cheese exploration- very enjoyable.
French: Small groups very beneficial and flexible. There was no fixed format for our group. In retrospect I would have liked a revision of all of the tenses across the week however we both came away with a better sense of practical french rather than text book and better pronunciation.
It took a week to get to know people well. Although the focus is to speak french we felt that after the evening meal active encouragement to relax and speak English would facilitate friendship and understanding of some of the french conversations!

Je apprécie vraiment École de Trois Ponts. C’est un très bon école et le personnel et la directrice prennent vraiment soin de leurs étudiants. Elles prêtent attention à leur l’apprentissage des étudiants et elles veulent qu’on profitons de notre temps en France. En plus, la petite ville de Roanne est très charmant et plus facile à explorer.

Je recommande cette école à tout le monde et je reviendrai certainement!
