Asks for 20 or 30$ for a -chance- to get published on their magazine. It should be the other way around.
Also, you email looks like a scam email.
EDIT: since you responded: Do you consider the work you publish as CONTENT or ADVERTISING? If it's content, you should pay your contributors. If it's advertising, I should pay you but be guaranteed to appear. It's none of the above, so it's a scam. It shouldn't cost money to "review" art. Also, you keep saying "small fee", but 2$ is a small fee, 30$ is what I pay for 2 weeks of FOOD.

We sincerely apologize for any upset or misunderstanding caused. As mentioned in our email and in our terms, we require a small submission fee to enter in our magazine competition. It is very important to note however, that we always inform the artists that it is their decision whether to participate or not. We have just published our Q1 edition of the magazine and are very proud to have again featured many artists from around the world. We legitimately assist artists gain international exposure for their art. That is what our platform is all about.

Hi there. You recently tried to delete my girlfriend's and several others’ reviews on Trust Pilot. I find it quite ironic that the more bad reviews you attempt to get deleted the more apparent it becomes that there is reason to view you as a bad enterprise. I say only that you should review your methods as a company and your irritating and false conduct on platforms such as instagram. This is a formal complaint- please take note and behave more professionally.

Excellent service! Has responded to all of my queries (and there were a lot) within a matter of hours! The magazine competition is great for upcoming artists without a big name for a chance to be featured and seen by many. Very very good!

I am unsure.
I do not know how to feel about 1340 art gallery. I was recently approached by them via instagram and then told about the magazine competition. I have seen many reviews and forums about this possibly being a scam, and I have seen others that speak of praise. I am a fairly young artist (17) and i see this as a possible opportunity. I want to know if this is true or not, and whether one of your curators, Hannah, is actually apart of your instagram team. She is the one who contacted me. My parents do not want me participating in the magazine competition until they are sure this is not a scam.

Every query I've had has been responded …
Every query I've had has been responded to quickly, the art magazine is well put together, and it's not the first competition I've seen with an entry fee. Sometimes people are just too skeptical that they don't even want to give anyone a chance, which is a pity. They offer some great opportunities!

I think they're great! Take a look at their online gallery. They have given some great exposure for us emerging artists whose work is being displayed! Nice variety too. I have also recently submitted for the magazine competition because I have seen the previous editions, and its a stunning mag!

Scam
They say you can get a free feature on their Instagram page but, you are always "preselected" to qualify for one of the final rounds of their jurying process for their magazine. You are then asked to pay $20 to $30 to be considered to be part of the magazine. I have submitted multiple times through multiple email accounts and its always the same case. I have seen 1340art employee accounts on Instagram comment on many recent posts in a matter of minutes inviting artists of any skill level to submit for their "free" Instagram feature (some of the posts they commented on weren't even art related.) Even if the magazine they operate is real; they operate like scammers willing to take advantage of anyone willing to pay.

We only invite artists to submit their artwork for our magazine competition once our team has seen their artwork, feel it is of a high standard, and therefore could be featured in the publication. We will then be able to relay the information to our Instagram team, as we like to ensure we improve our methods wherever necessary.

Was contacted by 1340 Art Magazine via Instagram to submit some of my artwork. So far, they have been very helpful in email contact and seem to be a decent art magazine helping unknown artists to get some audience.
