It was the people at IBM Rd that was kind, understanding and ready to solve or accommodate my concerns.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Hertz! Lost reservation, car overheating, charged smoke fee and police called on me!!!

My experience with Hertz was unacceptable, and the way this situation was handled was extremely unprofessional.

I was given a substandard rental vehicle, and after a week of driving it, I purchased an air freshener because I did not like the smell inside the car. Despite never smoking in the vehicle, I was hit with a ridiculous $400 smoking fee.

Here is what makes this situation even more concerning: the employee who handled my return inspected the vehicle and did not mention any smoking issue whatsoever. It was only AFTER I left that another employee supposedly decided the car smelled like smoke. Suddenly, I was being billed $400 for something I did not do.

When I returned to question the charge, the employee I spoke with offered no real explanation or assistance, essentially telling me he could not help me. So customers can be charged hundreds of dollars based on an allegation made after the vehicle has already been returned, with no issue documented to them at the time of inspection?

I had to contact billing myself to get the fee waived. While I appreciate that the charge was eventually removed, the fact that I had to fight a charge I should never have received in the first place is unacceptable.

This experience raises serious concerns about Hertz’s inspection procedures, employee accountability, and the way customers are treated when they challenge questionable charges. A company should not be able to make customers feel as though they have done something wrong without providing clear evidence to support the accusation.

Waiving the fee does not erase the frustration, wasted time, or lack of professionalism I experienced.

Hertz needs to do better. Better vehicles, better inspection procedures, and better customer service. I should not have to defend myself against an unsupported accusation just to avoid paying $400 for something I did not do.

Based on this experience, I would think twice before renting from Hertz again. I strongly encourage anyone renting from them to take detailed photos and videos of the vehicle at pickup and return, and to keep all documentation.

The way a company handles a problem says a lot about its customer service, and this experience spoke volumes.

The car was not ready at the appointed pick-up time; I had to wait while it was cleaned and washed.

Hertz needs more EVs, especially my location in Poughkeepsie. I always wind up with an old Tesla that’s seen much better days.
When I travel away from home, I rent from another company that features EVs, but here in my area I don’t have that choice.

Hertz local edition in Poughkeepsie is by far the best vehicle rental facility in the local area. Their rental fleet is incredible which includes some very nice luxury models. But the most outstanding credit to this location is their genuinely friendly, professional and knowledgeable customer service team. They go above and beyond to ensure your rental experience is flawless. Highly recommend Poughkeepsie HLE.

Even though I had my ezpass attached to rhe windshield I was charged for tolls and an outrages connivence fee. I don’t mind paying the tolls, but feel ripped of by the added fee.

The car was not a midsize SUV, but a van. It was dirty, had stuff stuck on the hood. The charging ports didn't work. We couldn't wait to be rid of it.
