Hertz - Portland Marriott Downtown Omdömen 

My dad just died and they were the rudest employee when asking questions about the drop off of the vehicle. The employee also cussed in front of me due to a bug being in his face. Being in the hospitality business, this was a completely unprofessional and uncalled for. Never will I give my business back to Hertz for their rude demeanor and unprofessionalism. Do better. When people are down already, choose kindness over what you’re feeling. We’re all going through it. The least you can do is choose kindness to the person across from you.

From start to finish on reserving car on line to the great customer service picking up the car at the Portland, OR Marriott and ease of dropping it off to the garage.

We reserved a full size car, but when we arrived were told the location was out, but he could give us an suv. The lady in front of us was also offered an suv. She wanted a small size suv, but he told her he didnt have that either. When we went to parking lot he had given us a kia niro, which was smaller than full size car. The lady before us said thats what she wanted, but he didnt offer to swap and accommodate both of us. He finally came up with a full size car for us. Im really not sure what was going on, but would appreciate more transparency and willingness to make it right for the customer. In the past I have dealt with an exceptional manager named Julie at the Corvallis location, but I would accept service that was even half as descent as her, but this did not make the cut. This Portland location needs better training on customer service.

I obtained a very good value economy rental and it turned out to be a ‘26 Camry Hybrid (50mpg). I drove it all week on one tank of 531 mile range. That was a real find with the price of gas what it is. I also chatted with support and was able to change my return location to PDX and glad we did as we cut it close returning in time.

Overall solid experience. Staff were kind and helpful, car ran well, booking was easy, etc.

Ran into a few problems:
- the process of actually getting to my rental car was silly. Having to lug my items up to the second story of the hotel, check in, then back downstairs, across the street, then up to the 6th floor to find the car was a lot. Very little signage to help with directions. Would have been great to know about this whole thing before we chose this location to rent from.
- car windshield on the inside hadn’t been cleaned in a while and it had that hazy film on it that made driving towards the sun hazardous. We had to clean it ourselves.
- during booking, hertz tried to sell me the free tolls option. There are no tolls in the state I was in. Felt a bit predatory.
- didn’t love the safety features on the rental we had, but that’s not really Hertz’s fault.

Overall, I’d rent from hertz again, but I’d probably do a bit more research on location next time.

The car that I received was wonderful. My wife and I are thinking about purchasing this type of car so wanted to rent. It was great to get what we intended to rent. I did have to wait over an hour for the vehicle, but person helping me kept me informed. This would be 5 stars except for the wait.

The rental car itself was fine, but the pickup experience was unnecessarily difficult. This Hertz location is inside the Marriott, but after checking in, you’re given the keys and directed to a parking garage about a block away, where the cars are located on the 6th floor.

I understand they may not have space to keep the vehicles at the hotel, but having customers walk to a parking garage with their luggage and then search for their car is not a great experience. I had to walk around pressing the lock button on the key fob to locate mine, and another customer was doing the same thing.

I would not rent from this location again. For a much easier experience, I recommend picking up your rental at PDX instead.

The location is very convenient, just few minutes away from MAX stop. The team members are very knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely recommend this location to my friends as well as book the vehicle for myself.

The frustration began with a malfunctioning credit card scanner at the Hertz desk. It continued when the agent sent me to find my car in a neighboring parking garage without giving me clear instructions on where to find it. After wandering the garage for 10 mins, i finally found my car, loaded my stuff into it and took off, only to discover that it only had half a tank of gas. I nearly blew a gasket. When I called customer service, they helpfully suggested that I return the car with the same amount of gas as when I picked it up. Now how am I supposed to bring it back with exactly half a tank of gas??

everything about the rental experience was perfect. Quick pickup-no line to wait on. Exactly the car I wanted. The agent was friendly and helpful. The car was clean and fun to drive. The only slight issue was the pickup was downtown and the car was a 5 minute walk from the office. The price was very low and no extra fees.

The whole experience of renting was easy -- from interacting with the friendly desk person all the way to picking up the car in the nearby garage. This is certainly not the same experience at most airports.

Given an electric vehicle after purchasing a Gas SUV which made our planned road trip severely inconvenient. The car then needed servicing as it had a coolant issue and the Hertz employees were largely unhelpful about figuring out where to go and how to get a replacement vehicle. Had to drive 3 hours out of our way back to Portland to a different location where we finally received a working vehicle. Very frustrating experience

It was a nightmare! There were no cars available, despite my prepaid reservation. We were late, and almost missed the wedding, which was our reason for traveling to Portland. Other customers had the same problem and the counter staff was rude and not very helpful.
