Outdated Alerts, Broken Notification Controls, and Misleading Security Guidance

IDX has been a disappointing experience. The platform continues to flag “alerts” from years ago — for example, items dated September 11, 2022 — with no way to dismiss, acknowledge, or toggle them off. A monitoring service that can’t distinguish between stale data and real threats isn’t providing meaningful protection.

Notifications can be marked as “read,” but the moment you refresh the page they revert back to unread. The system clearly isn’t saving state properly. There’s also an “Archive” section visible in the interface, yet there is no functional way to move any alerts into it. It feels like half‑implemented UI with no actual workflow behind it.

On top of that, the guidance to “log into every account using the same email address and change all associated passwords” is, at best, disingenuous. It implies users should maintain a separate email address for every service — something that has never been realistic or operationally feasible in the last 30 years of mainstream internet use. Presenting that as a practical security step only highlights how disconnected the service is from real‑world account management.

Instead of helping users stay on top of identity‑related risks, IDX ends up resurfacing years‑old noise, offering broken notification controls, and providing advice that doesn’t align with how people actually use the internet. For a service that markets itself as proactive and user‑focused, these shortcomings are significant.

I got a notification saying my personal…

I got a notification saying my personal data was breached from my job, I was offered free credit monitoring via IDX. The website prompted me to pay more for basic protection as the free protection offered minimal monitoring, I set up a profile which doesn't explain how its protecting your information. I tried to cancel subscription, now I cant access the website. You can't download their app. Now im even more concerned my personal information will be compromised.
Im getting weird calls and emails. Is it because of DOGE, my employer.
Scary there's now way to protect yourself or your personal information anymore

Besserer Kundenservice erforderlich…

Die Serviceleistungen sind im Allgemeinen mittelmäßig, das eigentliche Problem liegt jedoch im Kundensupport. IDX muss hier dringend nachbessern, sonst wechsle ich den Broker. Ich lasse mich bei den Auszahlungsprozessen stark von externen Einflüssen (z. B. von SoRus) leiten.

Don’t setup through Employer benefit you will only get screwed when you leave!

I had this product through an employer benefit. I thought the product was…OK, not great. It was all over the place and had too many tiles for “products” that didn’t really do very much. Plus the credit freeze was *not* 3 bureaus, only 1.

When I was suddenly downsized, the “products” in my account were just deactivated. They did not provide a pathway to switching over to a personal account. You are just “S-O-L” as the saying goes. You just have to close the existing account and open a new one and start all over again. When I called customer “support” today, they couldn’t NOT CARE LESS about this! The rep I spoke to was almost gleeful about how inconvenienced I was as a result of a downsizing - through no fault of my own.

Seriously, this company needs to GET OVER themselves.

A decade of good service

Ten years ago, I receive a 10-year free subscription because of a government agency data breach. For those 10 years I had both LifeLock and this service. During that time, I noticed that this service gave me more immediate, proactive and useful emails and input about my information on the web than LifeLock did. The one occasion during that period I tried to get help from LifeLock they were rude on the phone and didn't respond to two service requests through their online customer service contact form. I was happy to ditch LifeLock and renew this service when the free subscription expired. It's a bit more expensive but I know what I'm getting is more useful than what I got from LifeLock.

BEWARE…

My employer provided this service until the end of Nov of 25. I received a IDX company email to renew the service as it would expire Dec 1. 25. I went to site to renew and mistakenly paid for a year, I immediately realized the error as I wanted to pay for a month only and immediatly called the firm. They refused to refund my Dec 1 payment, saying the charge was "immediate" ? I advised my current account term covers me in Nov and won't expire until Dec1 and 1) I simply no longer wish to renew in Dec for a year and 2) as my account was current and Nov was paid for, this payment was to be applied Dec 1 when the account renewed, The rep simply kept repeating no, we cannot refund its an immediate charge even if my account was paid for and good for three more weeks in Nov and I was out of luck ?! What a shady way to do business BEWARE

Not worth the $. I purchased the full subscription. The only service I haven't tested is the insurance. Everything else is inferior to the free services I already use through Credit Karma & Google's "Results about you" service. The credit/ID alerts I get from IDX come WAY later than multiple others I get free elsewhere. 1-step credit Lock/Unlock doesn't work. I still had to go to each bureau. Couldn't import passwords, so still paying separately for my old password manager. No trial/refunds. There should be a trial period where you can get a refund.

Stay Away - They're trying to sell worthless services that aren't needed through their company

They're a scam collecting data.

Updated. I confirmed idx was added due to a breach at a company.

I called idx 2xs after unsuccessfully trying to delete my account which was impossible. I thought one of the companies with whom I did business gave me a monitoring service because they were hacked but when this never ended, Updated: I initially had no idea why I'd sign up with a company with their bad rep. and confirmed this is exactly what happened.

When they tried upselling me for more worthless services and continued sending emails, I knew something was wrong.

The date of the experience is simply another date I received an email from them but it has been going on for a long time.

Y’all are tripping, and if you’ve gotten the free 2 years cuz of the data breach your sheeeiit is already all over the dark web, so why you scared of giving the info to a legitimate credit monitoring company? You pay to be told not to click links

I received a year free of service due to a data breach. Very thankful I have not paid anything because this company has not done anything at all.

My service from IDX includes email protection with identity protection. So when I complained about a sudden influx of spam emails (200 scam emails in one night) with one particularly concerning email about opening a bank account with my info at Truist Bank - I was annoyed that IDX didn’t seem to be aware of this. And when I reported it to them nothing happened. The only response I got was “do not click on any links”… uh yes I know I’m not an idiot and do not need to pay anyone to tell me that?? What is even the point of this company??

Questionable marketing tactics

I have been a computer professional most of my life. I can spot social engineering fairly easily - this rates towards the top.

I was asked by a friend if the letter they just received from "Clark County" was a scam. It was not a scam, but disingenuous all the same. It was actually a cleverly disguised advertisement for IDX credit monitoring service.

IDX is a legitimate cybersecurity company -- a bit sloppy -- but at a minimum they do what they say they are going to do -- credit monitoring... albeit one of the more expensive services.

IDX is Ingenious, but are still slimeballs.
In 2023, Clark County School District in Nevada had a very extensive data breach... There is a class action lawsuit on behalf of the students, parents and teachers.

IDX used this breach as a marketing tool. They devised a letter which looked like an official letter of notice from "Clark County." and informed the recipient of the letter that they were victims of this data breach. The letter continued that this data breach included private information and that they are a victim -- A victim who is entitled to one free year worth of credit monitoring from IDX.

On the surface seems like IDX is doing you a favor -- (even if you really weren't involved in the Clark County breach -- you might have; You never know).... but all it is marketing. They get publicity and a possible customer once the free year subscription is up...
It's not that the company IDX is a scam, it's the way they "advertise."

This IDX claims to protect you due to a Data Breach…I’m here to tell you they definitely a scam a company named Forth Inc hired and paid a full year of fees so they could spy on me, and steal money from my disabled husband and I I have now hired and attorney Pro Bono after hearing my story which began in March 2020 when I started to receive unemployment benefits. If you look at past employers you’ve had where you have to give your info like SS#, DOB, Bank account info for direct deposit, etc…That’s the best place to start. Look around in your area there are many attorneys that will take your case pro bono or even after they settle your case they take fees then. I have had nothing but grief since 2020 when my unemployment funds were stolen. Screenshot everything, it helps tremendously. Hire an Attorney to fight for you!! They also can help with WIREFRAUD! Go to the FBI IF you can’t get help from your local authorities. The more info you can give them the better. They started by opening a PayPal account in my name fraudulently on May 5th, 2020. I’m glad I have been patient because you would be shocked to find out who is behind it all. They started to pull money off my Debit card but credited me back the amount they took without my authorization…

IDX- To scam or not to scam?

I just received the same snail mail letter and did sign up (name and email) but thought twice when I saw they wanted my SSN and DOB among other personal info.
There was no ‘security padlock’ in the url like there is on most commerce, healthcare and banking sites.
I’m glad I found this forum!

can't login

I tried to sign up for credit montioring, the website would not send my email confirmation, I waited until the next morning, I called. A lady who barely spoke english who mumbled, finally after 10 minutes of trying to figure out what she was saying, she was obviously reading a script and was flying through it in some broken english, and whispering too boot.
Anywho...she said I could not register by phone, as I had already registered by computer.
I told her how the website would not send the confirmation email for me to respond too (6 times!).
she said I have to go to the website (I had to guess that is what she was saying, it definitely was not easy to understand). So, days later I get a few minutes to go to the website to pick out the services I want, and fill in my information, etc. (I was supposed to set up my account). The webpage came up, looks great, I can't login. It says I have to verify my email address, I double checked it, and I never received their email and keep clicking "resend" no response. I don't have time to deal with some company who doesn't have a functioning website. Holy ****! what a waste of my valuable time!

Avoid this company at all cost

I do not feel safe with this company monitoring my information. I have called twice, on the same suspicious alert. They could not find me in their system, even though I was logged in, and said they couldn't help me if they couldn't find me. Both times I was told a supervisor would call me back within 24 hours and that never happened. Still have not heard back, makes me wonder if they've been hacked and I will be deleting my accounts from this company. I do not feel that they are safe

After a conversion with them, this is a scam run by felon trump supporters who want your information to do a poor if at all job. Use a more trusted name for monitoring and put fraud alerts on all 3 credit reporting agencies yourself.

I got a notice re data breach

I got a notice re data breach, I called- the first person explained the emails I would get-- the first one said there was a data breach in my name before my giving a name. I ?d that- had to talk to a supervisor..30 min- she is new didnt know what is going on. ok I begin to sign up-- have ?s,, guy cant answer them. He escalates them. No one calls back in 6 business days. I call get a run around then on hold-- so far now 2 calls of 30 minutes now after the first call tody put me on a long hold because she couldn tfigure out about the escalation and why it was not dealt with now on second call- she apologized many times but she says they called me on days I was home and so they closed ticket. I am not sure I will continue-- these who answer phones do not know what is going on- why trust them/

Can't Reach Them

They turned on multi-factor auth w/o warning and then wouldn't answer the phone or email on 1/2/24. Finally emailed back on 1/24 and they told me to call. The message says the team is in a meeting and hangs up. I am losing confidence in this company.

Update - I emailed them again and they removed the MFA so I could log in.
