Complaint upheld… but no follow-through

Ongoing issues – poor service and no follow-through (update to previous review)

This is an update to my previous review.

Guardsman responded publicly stating that my complaint had been upheld and that compensation had been offered in a letter dated 10 April 2026.

I have not received this letter.

I contacted Guardsman to request that it be resent by email or post. This has been completely ignored. Once again, the only response I have had from this company has been via Trustpilot, not through direct communication.

At this point, this matter has been ongoing for over three months. While the original issue was eventually resolved after significant delay, the continued lack of communication and failure to follow through on their own statements is unacceptable.

It is extremely disappointing that a company can acknowledge poor service, claim to offer compensation, and then fail to ensure the customer actually receives that offer or respond to further contact.

Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid this product. The aftercare is poor, communication is unreliable, and resolving even simple issues requires unnecessary time and effort.

Have had technicians a few times to…

Have had technicians a few times to redo small patches of accidental damage to colour of suite. Very professional and pleasant staff . We have never had any issues with guardsman regarding any repair .
4 years after taking out cover they have always been easy to contact and attended to our needs promptly. Would highly recommend.

Claim turned down, without a discussion.

We purchased a 3 seater and 2 seater Chesterfield settees, 4 years ago and took out Guardsman Insurance as they weren't cheap purchases.

Last weekend, by chance we noted that one of the studs on the 2 seater had pulled through, due to a thread coming loose, in an area of no wear n tear, as it was on the top of the backrest.
We contacted Guardsman to raise a claim for a fix, including pics.

2 days later, we receive a "not covered" response, saying it was "part of the framework" and therfore not covered.

How can deep studs, pulling leather down be part of the framework?

If all the studs pulled through, the settee would not collapse.

You buy a deep studded settee because you like the look of deep studs.

BEWARE if Guardsman are offered
when buying anything, check the fine print.

When we replace them, we will ensure Guardman are not involved.

Terrible service RIP off

Terrible service took out full service cover on my new cream sofa for unlimited stain removals etc they don't tell you it takes them 3 month to come out. Would never get ripped off again taking the cover out.

THEY WON'T PAY OUT DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

I purchased some expensive furniture from DFS a couple of years ago. I never normally bother with these policies as i know how most companies work. However the sales person was adamant it would cover me for pet damage as we have 2 ragdoll cats. So i took the policy and paid something like £350 for this policy. Had a few scratches so i called them out to repair. It was pretty farcical the process i had to take photo's upload stuff, fill in forms etc, it certainly wasn't easy and as a financial adviser myself i fill in online forms for a living. Anyway someone was booked to come out to repair it around a month later or so i thought. The guy came out stayed about 30 mins took some pictures and then said he needed to send these details into Guardsman which was confusing. Then i got a letter saying my claim was declined!

In my opinion this company is a joke. I would never use them again and i would urge you not to give these scammers your money. Just take the risk and if you have a problem you can deal with it then.

I am now in the process of raising complaints and trying to get a refund for a policy that is quite simply not fit for purpose. I feel badly let down by this company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS is my advice to you.

Good result

Once we had the visit, the experience was excellent - the gentleman worked really hard to remove the stains with an excellent result. I marked it down because initially we were promised to receive 'wipes' in the post which never arrived. Clearly would have been inadequate anyway

Reclining chair repair

My reclining chair seat springs had become uncomfortable. Guardsman changed to firm cushion as requested. All done at home.
No problem. No quibble! Thank you Guardsman.

Very happy with the service

The Guardsman technician was very friendly and respectful. With great care he successfully removed the ink stain from our sofa. You would now never know it had been there. Very happy with the service.

Very bad service

Very bad service, both dfs and garsman, i covered my sofas when the technicians came reported no damage but my sofa is cracked and piled, I recommend dont buy of dfs and dont believe gardsman, both rubbish, dfs products has no quality and gardsman is gives you the reasons which don't cover your furniture

Our policies provide cover for incidents of accidental staining and/or accidental damage, reported as & when the occur. Unfortunately, none of our policies cover for a build-up of staining/damage that has occurred over time.

Very poor service from guardsman paid…

Very poor service from guardsman paid extra for cover just incase anything happened and both claims put in were rejected so not worth the paper its written on passing me back and forth to dfs .would not reccommend to anyone paid £300 for extra,insurance cover not happy at all with guardsman issues still ongoing .
