All of my interactions with this site have been positive. First, there haven't been any problems with the website, the videos are excellent-his explanations and examples clear and complete; the customer support responds quickly. I was a beginner, for the second time, but this time I'm progressing in a way that helps me keep going because I am making observable progress.

I've learned so much from the videos, which are very easy to follow. There's plenty of support from Allen and Zak as well as the Facebook community. Love this group!

This is the most enjoyable learning experience I've ever had. The studies are fun, and each aspect of playing is covered in excellent detail, always with the idea that learning to practice correctly doesn't need to be boring. The pieces are great, even the simplest ones become challenging when learning the nuances. Awesome program!

Classical Guitar shed has been a great course so far and I’m still a beginner; well, I’ve started at the beginning of the course so kind of fill in the gaps in my knowledge; I’ve been a musician for most of my life actually, mainly playing bass. I tell you this so that you might trust this review. :)
I’ve been thinking of how to describe the experience I’ve had with CGS so far. I think the main take home I’m feeling is the most pertinent is that it’s about the learning experience. There are so many tips on approach to practice and practical ways to do this. It doesn’t so much as take the thinking away from the student it puts firmly in your grasp and method to begin uncovering the myths behind playing an instrument.
I myself, I’m balancing so many plates at the moment; in two bands that are playing live with the bass and I’m also taking singing lessons so the CGS has taken a back burner at the the moment but that said… I play guitar regularly and I am taking the lessons on board and I’m finding that my technique and approach to practice has greatly improved. Seeing the learning as a journey, while cliché, helps to find the joy even when things get frustrating.

The tutorials and the tutors themselves are fantastic. I’ve sent a video of my playing and I received a fifteen minute personalised critique and encouragement reply on video; the only reason I haven’t followed this up is that I smashed my phone and I’ve only just replaced the screen!
There is so much more I could say. The website is easy to navigate. There’s lots of lessons and workbooks, group Q&A and even an ‘open mic’ on zoom, that I’ve still to attend but it’s all very interactive if that’s the way you choose. All for the price of one lesson really for a months subscription. I’d recommend CGS to anyone wanting to play classical guitar.

I enjoy your videos as they go through methodically through the material and pointing out difficult spots in a passage and suggested methods to overcome them. As always I enjoy your smiling countenance.

I have been signed up to CGS for rather more than a year. My experience has been uniformly positive. I started from zero (as a guitarist, though I have a lot of musical experience). There are some limitations to an entirely online programme - though these are partially offset by the workshops and one-to-one video reviews. (I haven't made as much use of these opportunities as I should have done). Still, I sometimes wish there was someone there in the room to correct my technique. Some of the coaching is too detailed for me (as I already have a grasp of musical notation, score-reading etc.). But you can take and leave what you want.

Allen Matthews is an excellent tutor. The right mix of humour and purposeful intent. He has an excellent support team. My progress has been slower than I would have liked - but that is entirely down to me.

If you are looking for a self-directed programme of instruction from square one, I'd recommend CGS without reservation.

If you're not going to take private lessons, the Classical Guitar Shed is the next best resource. And for those taking private lessons the CGS has voluminous resources that no personal instructor could ever offer in your study. If you look up online guitar lessons, CGS will always appear at the top or near the top of ratings. You will not go wrong with your choice of the Classical Guitar Shed!

I joined the "shed" 2 years ago and can heartily recommend it. Allen and his team teach all the fundamentals you need to learn to play classical guitar. Yes, it's hard, but they will help you every step of the way. I've been enjoying the experience and love having goals to obtain. All the courses are very well presented and easy to understand. You won't regret it. Money well spent!

I am paying for a yearly subscriptions. The video tutorials are easy to follow, the curriculum is effective, and the instructors are terrific and respond to my video submissions within 2 days.

I have been using the Classical Guitar Shed (CSG) program for almost a year as a paying customer, but have been using Allen's free YouTube videos for a couple of years before that. I intend to continue paying for the membership and find it to be very valuable in my progress of playing classical guitar. The lessons are thorough, detailed and Allen has a very pleasant and accessible personality that makes him an excellent teacher. There is a very structured flow to the program that is laid out for those who want to follow the recommend path, but it is left up to the student how they utilize the system. I still meet with a teacher locally once a week, and find the two to work well together. My teacher will usually help me chose a piece to work on that is also one of the pieces that is available in (CGS), so my time with my teacher can be spent more on going over her feedback with my technique, etc. and I can spend as much time as I want with Allen's video as he breaks down each section of the piece. Even if I did not have a private teacher, I feel like CGS is one of the only on-line programs I have seen that can actually teach you classical guitar, which is really amazing if you think about it. Before modern technology, since the late 19th century the only way to learn classical guitar was from a teacher or a book. To learn this style from a book took a very rare person. I would encourage anyone who is serious about learning the correct method of playing classical guitar to use the CGS platform. I did not receive any discount or incentive to write this review and I am a current paying customer.

I have learned so much about excellent technique through the "Shed." Allen is an enthusiastic, encouraging teacher and his videos are without equal on the Net on account of their sheer number, great camerawork, and his explanations.

Even after years of "playing" guitar, I found great tips and better techniques for almost every aspect of my playing; proper posture, better ways to practice, really great video tutorials, and excellent support in live zoom opportunities!

This program is thoughtfully designed to teach the different skills that you need to learn in an order and progression that really works. The CGS offers so many classes on technique as well as specific pieces. I highly recommend this course! you will not be disappointed.

Allen is not only an accomplished player but he is a gifted teacher. One may say to oneself: "I will never be able to do that!" but his program helps one want to try and to trust that there is logic and benefit from some of the challenging, yet boring, technique exercises. Zak is an inspiration as well.

I subscribed to the CGS program in January and have nothing but praise for the format, content and supportive encouragement received. It has enabled me to make steady progress with increasing confidence and enjoyment.

If you're a beginner, or a fairly competent classical guitarist, Classical Guitar Shed has something to offer you. I've been a member for five months and find that the on-line lessons are accessible and rewarding. The structured approach is very helpful. Allen Mathews, who's behind it all, is a very competent guitarist and teacher. He has a relaxed style of delivery but, always has something relevant and useful to say. His team are, also, very quick to respond to queries. All in all, I'm a satisfied student and customer.

Allen Mathews "Classical Guitar Shed" is exception, on-line teaching forum. The level of detail on every aspect of learning how to approach the study of the classical guitar is so complete, so thoughtful, and so useful that it makes all other on-line forums appear rushed and childish in approach. I have been a student for two years; I have no talent really. In the face of that, I have learned enough to be able to almost play classical music in a pleasing way...to others. I will continue my studies as long as I am able. I began at 74 and am now 76. This program/site is worthy of the concept in the word "excellent" in every respect, without qualification.
