My flight got cancelled 2 hours before the departure

Unbelievable experience and rude customer service desk. Never fly this one in the future

Awful Booking Process and Customer Service

I haven't even flown with United yet, but so far they've made me re-book my flights 3 times, and there's still another 3 months before I fly. I booked a return flight to the US from the UK in January, I went on-line in March to check some details to find that my flights had been changed and my seat upgrades had been cancelled with no refund. So I re-upgraded and chose new seats, a month later I checked again, the flights had changed again, still no warning or refund, so yet another, re-select the seats and pay the upgrade fee again, 1 month later, same thing. Each time I re-upgrade my seats my bank charges me £1.50 for each transaction (United put each seat on each flight through individually from the US whereas the original booking was taken from the UK). In terms on transaction costs alone I'm down around £18, if you add to that the fact that not a single cancelled seat hasn't been refunded then it's around £250. I feel a small claims court action coming on.

Big profits poor service

Book international and domestic flights with them and yet they wanted to charge us for internal baggage even though we had already paid to get our bags into the USA - staff on the phone and at the airport were very very poor and unhelpful - on another note the staff were looking miserable at Newark and Orlando so they probably hate working for them. The biggest irony is them showing a video before you take off with various CEOs of the company telling you how much they care - nonsense!

Staff have a bad and unhelpful attitude

I had a flight booked from heathrow to cancun which went via Houston. The staff were unhelpful and rude they were more interested in feeding themselves.when we got to Houston for an internal transit it took two hours to get through passport control and almost missed the connecting flight.

I am hate Unıted Airlines.

If you want to go anywhere you never take a ticket from United Airlines.

Don't even bother flying with United

We purchased tickets in March for a flight in June. Within 3 weeks, they had canceled our return flight without notifying us. I had to get on the phone for over an hour and get a return flight set up.

While waiting at the airport for our return flight, about an hour before we were to leave the flight was pushed back to 11:30 from 10:12. This would cause us to miss our connecting flight in Cleveland. By 11:00, the flight had been pushed back to 12:30.

The individual at the desk was able to put us on another plane to get home. I am very grateful for that, just wish that I hadn't been given a seat in the last row next to the engine for both parts of the trip home. Never flying United again!

We felt that United did not care about its customers, just the money that they had received from the purchase. Whatever happened to honoring your contract?

United Airlines 10hrs delayed

I regret having booked my flight from San Francisco to Honolulu with United Airlines. I paid $3,247.43 for a 1st class seat, hoping I would have a comfortable flight. But I was so disappointed when our flight was delayed for 10hrs and all they can say was the aircraft hasn't arrived yet. No food or lounge was offered. The long queue to check in took us 1 1/2hrs. The flight was supposed to leave at 4:40pm on April 1, 2012, we left at 2:30am and arrived at our hotel 6:00am. The 1 night we paid at the hotel was wasted. The aircraft was so old, and the food, chicken with tomato paste tasted so bad. The seats are wide but can only be reclined not more than 45degrees. On the way back, the flight was once again delayed for an hour or so. Although they compensated us with 17,500 miles, the experience was traumatizing, they can never repay the time wasted.

Katastrofal booking af United fly (United/Continental)

Voldsomt dårlig logistik og overblik
Summary in English - then detailed information i Danish: The worst possible case: Ordered, paid, and got e-tickets some months ago. Kept checking via the website, until this morning everything was OK.
When wanting to do the online checkin 24 hours before the flight the system told that this was not possible for my booking. Called Continental and found out that they had no record of the reservation cph/newark in their checkin system - although after a long time they could find it in the external booking system as paid, confirmed etc. when I gave them the information. Reservation and payment for extra legroom/better seets was also last - and it was very difficult to go through the process. Had I not printed and documented every detail I do not know what would have happened - btw, now after being on the telephone line for 1 and 1/2 hour I still don't really know.

Flyet er United, United og Continental er slået sammen og håndterer booking/check in sammen.

For 3-4 måneder siden købte og betalte vi 3 billetter til USA (CPH, Newark, San Diego) og retur. Afgang 1/8 og retur 8/8.
Betalte, fik booking nummer, ordrebekræftelse, kvittering, e-billetter med numre.
Betalte derefter også ekstra for ekstra benplads, fremme i flyet til/fra København. Trukket fra kreditkort. Heldigvis printede og gemte jeg kvitteringen!

Søndag morgen 24 timer før afrejse ville jeg lave online check in, men nu var det ikke muligt. Billetterne var dog fortsat synlige. Dialogen sagde at der stadig var mere end 24 timer til.

Har talt med den samme person over mere end 1 time nu, hun har talt med sin backend support over 4-5 gange med meget lang ventetid imellem.

De har enten overbooked eller også har de slettet deres data. Heller ikke vores online reservation af bedre sæder/ekstra benplads findes.
Først nægtede de at vi havde 1) Købt billetterne til rejsen til/fra USA, men kun indenrigs og derefter også at vi ikke havde købt de bedre sæder.

Heldigvis havde vi fuld dokumentation, incl. kvitteringer for betaling, interne Continental bookingnumre (fordi jeg pr. refleks printer alle skærme ud løbende gennem hele proceduren). Over nu, mens jeg skriver 1 1/2 time, har vi dermed hamret os gennem systemet skridt for skridt.

De er amerikansk venlige på telefonen, men har man ikke styr på hver eneste del af dokumentationen kommer man hverken til at rejse eller får det man har betalt for.

Det er ret skræmmende at opleve hvor dårlig deres logistik fungerer - jeg kan tilsyneladende se mere via min login (se vedlagte skærmbillede for fra 15 minutter siden). Jeg måtte hjælpe hende jeg fik i telefonen skridt for skridt ved at vise at jeg ikke kunne afvises pga. manglende informationer.
Bookingnumre, e-ticket numre, navne o.s.v. var IKKE nok i sig selv. Dertil viser det sig at de har dobbelte bookingnumre, som kun jeg kan se, da de nu merger med United. Disse dobbelt numre kunne de ikke selv se, men de ville meget gerne have dem.

Konklusion: Først 24 timer før afrejsen kan man vide om billetten findes. Deres kundebookingsystem er IKKE det samme som deres interne reservationssystem som til sidst styrer checkin. Det ene kan sælge pladser der ikke er i det andet system. Men pengene hæves med det samme og den rejsende, i dette tilfælde til en konference af rimelig vigtighed for os, aner ikke hvad der sker og får muligvis ikke sin rejse.

Søndag kl. 10.05, 23 timer før afrejse: 2 stjerner, kun fordi det fortsat ser ud til at det ihvertfald er muligt vi kommer afsted. Måske skulle det kun være en, for endnu har de ikke løst det.

Søndag kl. 10.38, stadig på telefonen mens de prøver at finde ud af det. Hjælper dem fortsat med yderligere data og kan imens logge på deres eksterne kundesystem og skaffe dem oplysningerne - nu har jeg printet hver eneste komma ud, også det jeg ikke tog først, hvis det nu skulle gå hen og blive "usynligt". Nedgraderer til 1 stjerne - da booking og checkin er en så væsentlig del af den samlede flypakke at det er kastastrofalt når det ikke fungerer hos selskaberne.

Meget lidt internationalt

Skulle bestille fly fra Pittsburgh til Charleston. Det var meget indviklet, fordi jeg bestilte fra Danmark (uden for USA - ikke online!)
Var nødt til at ringe i flere omgange til et elendigt fungerende callcenter. Først efter adskillige mails til et kontaktcenter blev problemerne løst, og jeg fik et par næsten-undskyldninger for klodset og inkompetent betjening. Og rigtig god behandling af United i USA.
